Ok, I am a little stumped on this one...... when I shut off the CRD and when I start it I am getting a very strong raw diesel smell from the intake side of the engine, I cannot see any signs of leaks, nothing dripping on the ground but that smell of diesel.... if there are any suggestions please....

Return lines off the injectors?? Look for diesel pooling around the cavity that contains the injectors. |

absolutely no signs anywhere in the engine bay of fuel, looked at the injectors as well.... wonder if it could be with the pump??? |

It could be leaking off the back of the high pressure pump and then down into that sound absorbing mat that's on the front skid plate? Maybe that's why you don't see drips. It would be worth a look under the plate. |

How many miles since last fuel filter change? Check for leakage at the fuel return block/lines on side of intake manifold. Best to check the high pressure fuel pump from the top and bottom of engine. Any fuel smell on the engine cover insulation? Hopefully you can get it pinpointed. |
