I just went on to moparpartsamerica.com to check on part # 68037142AA and found they are listing it for $342.50 Does this seem right?

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ ... 3&items=10

I was considering buying the TC and going to AAMCO to have it installed like several other members have done...what other parts (other than fluid) should I should bring to their shop to make this a one time deal?

In February, it was $191. By the time I ordered mine in March, it had jumped to $242. The price is going up all the time on that TC, and I have no idea why. It's very much a ripoff at it's current price.

I have been pricing parts online for the timing belt replacement. ALL of the Italian made CRD parts are skyrocketing as our politicians devalue our dollar :furious:

These are "Made in USA" so that doesn't quite hold water...

I just ordered mine a few weeks ago and it was $317 + shipping from the same place.

I noticed the same thing last week when i was looking. I was thinking it would be nice to have one on hand as mine has shuddered 2-3 times in the last 3 weeks but i have yet to get it to do it other on that same mountain and speed. The cheapest i could find in about a day of looking was 315.00 (euro tc). I emailed a shop that from what i hear from the powerstroke world is pretty good and here is their response.

Hi Andy,

We can get either a stock replacement or a heavy duty converter same as the euro converter for a 2005 2.8L Jeep Liberty Crd.
Other parts to consider when replacing the converter: hub seal $4.99, the pump seal $8.50 and a transmission cooler of choice. (Several coolers available, contact us for cooler options and pricing)
Torque converter costs:
A stock converter is $185 + 60 core + $28.97 shipping. The subtotal is $273.97 and includes a refundable core fee of $55.00 paid back to you with core return. Add the cost of any optional parts for your total cost: the seal(s). Shipping will be the same.
A heavy duty converter is $225 + $85 core + $33 shipping. The subtotal is $343.00 and includes a refundable core fee of $80.00 paid back to you with core return. Add the cost of any optional parts for your total cost: the seal(s). Shipping will be the same.
We honor price quotes for 30 days. Please let us know if you would like to order by phone. Also if cooler pricing is needed.

If you wanted a replacement cooler it would require a separate shipping charge. If both were ordered, they would have to ship separately to avoid damaging the cooler.
Thank you,
Jackie

If anyone would like to know the contact info of the place PM me, as i don't want to just throw it out there and step on any toes. But it looks like if i do buy i'll most likely get it from them as they are a sponsor of one of the other forums i'm in.

The seal on the front pump where the torque converter fits in is no longer available from the dealer because they have completly redesigned the front cover so you need to get the front pump that includes the new cover and seal. Supposably the new designed front pump and cover besides being cheaper to make eliminates some air leaks. It used to be standard practice when replacing a torque converter to replace the seal too. I'm not sure if this still the case but I asked my dealer when they replaced my tc under warranty if they were going to replace the seal too :?: He said yes them I mentioned the original seal was no longer available at least through chrysler and they would need to get the pump and cover.

Additionally there's a valve built into the pump that wears and there are repair kits availble from third parties for that :seuss:
