"The Princess" informed me that the 05 is making noise, "sounds like when you start it in the REAL cold". I showed my great diesel wisdom and informed her that its been cold here and they do get noisier in the extreme cold

. She drove it home, parked it in the barn, came in a said it's getting louder. Next morning after sitting in the heated barn, I went out and started it, it sounded like the pistons were changing holes. Shut it off. Turned on brain. I thought she lost a rod, wrist pin, or destroyed rod bearing. Put a wrench on the fan nut and rolled it over by hand, smooth as silk, great brain said it's a wrist pin. Found the super-duper plastic 8/80 warranty card headed to the local CJD portal prepared to hear, "Warranty....

That was OLD Chrysler." They said it's on warranty, towed it, gave me (For the Princess) a loaner car, pinched my cheek and said your such a nice boy, and took it in. Was told that there was an out standing f37 recall. Oh oh, busted. I guess the neutering has come home to roost. To make a long story short, I know the diesel tech at this portal that came from another Dodge portal I dealt with for years. He ran it, thought at first it was a wrist pin. He opened up the bottom checked rods etc., all good. He checked converter. Score, converter bolts came loose and were hitting the back of the engine. New radiator, new converter, new flex plate, new axle seals, + more. And here's the best part. No f37 re-flash. I asked him if he could get real busy, since he's the only GOOD diesel tech there, and maybe forget to re-flash it. He said, "re-flash what" ?
Some days, God smiles on you, even if you own ALL diesels.
