Most of the information I have found (on here and jeepkj.com) for installing an EVIC is for gassers. Is there a difference? Should I look for a specific year of chrysler to get it off of to get all the functions to work? Because of the electric cooling fan on the outside of the rad. assembly, is the Ambient temp sensor located differently, or is it a different sensor all together? I looked on mine and I THINK I see the sensor already installed (2005 Sport) Thanks |

This is one of the things we miss on our Liberty, no console computer Since it appears that the system/messages are all on the ODBII connector, is there a small/cheap scan tool which could perform the same function without cutting up the interior lining? I'm OK with assembling electronics if anyone has a DIY solution. Simon. |

Some scanners cause problems when left attatched to the obd II port causing the transmission to downshift. At the very least some just drop off after about 20 minuted. Scanguage is one of them that locks up. The data buss on our CRD's is kludged togther mess with two master controlers. GMCRD explaines it all very well

Arengant, evics work in a CRD same way connected as in a gasser. But you need an '05 evic (NOT from a Grand Cherokee) oterwise you have no temp read out.... (I use an '04 EVIC, tested the '04 in an '05 and temp didn't work) |

I just stumbled across a device intended for semi-perminant connection to the scan port: http://www.princessauto.com/workshop/ha ... o-computer For $60 this looks like a simple solution to getting a EVIC or building a DIY equivilant. Claims to support diesels, so I might give it a try if there any money left at the end of the month.... Simon. |
