Just got my CRD Limited, it had 90,000 miles. No mods had been done. I did ORM and EHM. The MAP was cruded up but no worse that pics on this site, it was gummy not dry. Cleaned and reinstalled MAP. I did EHM with heater hose and ran it down the driver's side inside the frame to the rear wheel so fumes would be behind the truck. I live in central TX so no worries about water vapor/drippings freezing. I was careful to keep a down hill run, hopefully the exhaust coming through will push oil out while I drive and not so much while it is sitting in my garage, time will tell.

The truck is white and I had complete detail to outside to it is REALLY clean and shiny. After just a 100 miles are so there was visible soot build up on the driver side rear fender well. I assume the soot came out of the EHM exhaust I installed.

My question is with that many miles on the truck, building up soot on the intake mile after mile, should I expect a large discharge of soot for a while, now that it is not going into the intake? If this is "normal" amount I'll put on some sort of filter, maybe Provent, to keep the truck clean. If not maybe I'll just wait it out.

Are there SEGR schematics available, or do I need to buy a kit? I have way to much electronics background so I can put it together no problem but I don't want to research a schematic if one already exists. I would rather spend my time in my bass boat than on the internet.

Thanks for your help. :D

The EHM vents the crank case and the residue is oily, not sooty. There are SEGR kits (disable the EGR) available from forum members. I went for a GDE ecotune instead since it does more than tame the EGR. Mine smoked like crazy when I got it. The tune and a new thermostat got things back to normal. I also did a series of accelerations for about twenty miles (as suggested by Keith at GDE) that helped blow it out. When the weather warmed up, I also found out the fan clutch was bad. T-stat and fan clutch seem to universal problems for those of us who bought used vehicles.

good luck

It ain't a TRUCK, it's a JEEP :jester:

Get the GDE tune and be happy like TJ2 suggests and replace the fume belching EHM with a Provent.

Also a good long road trip through mountains maybe pulling a camping trailer will clean the exhaust too. It sounds like your CRD was babied for 90k miles.

Otherwise wash your white Jeep daily :ROTFL:

I did the ECO tune and EHM and I also had oil mist from the EHM. It was at its worst when the oil level in my engine was a the full mark on the dipstick. When the oil level is at the lower mark on the dipstick the mist is almost undetectable. My solution so far has been to run the engine oil at the add line. :2cents:
