Hey who's the guy who is using his CRD to work on lift stations and treatment plants? I also go off road with mine on construction sites to lift stations & treatment plants. My CRD is mulipurpose. It has a plow & winch. It also hauls my enclosed 5x8 band trailor full of equipment (2500lbs) every weekend to and from gigs. I look foreward to uphill climbs pulling the trailor!! 05 CRD 3" BillitLift 245 Revos Predator Performance Module Glasspack Muffler Front Hitch, Plow, 9500# Winch |

That would be me. The CRD is a beast on the job. It's just WAY cool to be able to have fun on the job with the diesel. So far this year I've got lift stations, booster stations, sanitary and water treatment plants, elevated water towers, sanitary and water distribution systems, and all kinds of other projects lined up that will keep me out and about! Gotta get my boulderbars on so I can slide around a little more. I've only got an "intermediate" lift so I can still catch some good debris. Nothing like hearing a piece of ductile iron pipe slide under your trasmission skid plate Check out my CarDomain site for some Pics. I have none on the job yet, but that will change this year as things get swingin'... http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2165855 You got any pics? Looks like you got a 3" lift, must look nice... |

I'm part owner of a pumps & controls company and see a lot of lift stations. And you are correct. If you got to go out on tjhe job you might as well do it right!! http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2254161 |

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2254161 My tire cover was made by some company on the internet. Something like CustomGraffix, but I'm not sure. Just do a goole search on the saying on my tire cover and it should pop up. Nice looking Jeep! Black is my all time favorite. That's the color of my last truck that I owned for 15 years. |

I spent 6 hours today installing my new Boulder Bars. What a pain! A total of 34 bolts. Half the holes I drilled I had to go back and re-drill to enlongate after removing each boulder bar because the template holes sent with it were half a bolt diameter off from the product. Also the middle support leg on the passenger side did not mount flush to the frame box like it is supposed to - 1/8 inch gap, and on that one, I stripped a bolt because of it - I just kept cranking that socket wondering when the mounting plate would cinch up to the frame box - never happened. Even with all that, the Boulder Bars are more firm than a mountain of lava rock ! Don't attempt without a good floor jack. All I need is my rock ring for the rear diff to get hear and then I'll really be hardcore on the job |

What is a rock ring? |

Same place as my Boulder Bars - www.boulderbars.com Check in the KJ product area. I tried searching for others but this one provides the most protection, and with our rear differentials being so low, it will probably be the second best piece of armour I've purchased. (First being the MOPAR transmission/oil filter skid plate.) $120. |

Your work rig is getting tougher by the minute Alljeep! Your's is the first story I've heard of the boulderbar not going flush. |

Yeah, but I'm going to get a slightly larger self threading bolt to replace the stripped out one, and I'll slide a giant washer in behind there so at least some place has contact. All three mounting legs on each boulder bar are different lengths due to our frame boxes change alignment from back to front. And of course there is the fact that even with a small 3/8" power drill and the short F-bit, some of these holes have to be drilled at an angle since you just can't get the drill to fit under the rig in the required straight position. So about 4 bolts are installed at an angle. Anyone doing this install should just expect to have to do some slight modificaitons and just "go with the flow" of the install. The real pain is the pinch weld installation and it's the new plastic trim on the rockers for 2005+ that is the problem. The boulder bar snugs up on that plastic (after removing the spacer clips that attach the plactic to the lower area) and it's the thickness of the plastic that is the error in the hole drilling template. In reality, all the pinch weld holes need to be drilled slightly lower then the template positions them. Reguardless of all the trouble, I love the product and with 34 bolts (well 33 right now for me) it's not going anywhere reguardless of a gap here or there... I do worry about road salt attack though... I am getting very tired of getting this Jeep up to where I want it before going off road. I'm licking my wounds today from all the knuckle damage of yesterdays install. Once I get the Rock Ring in my hands and installed, I'm DONE. No more mods. Just drive and enjoy. |

Just got off the phone with the folks at BoulderBars.com and described the problem. They said that it is very rare, but occassionally this happens and it's either a weld hiding under the mounting plate or an out of spec. frame. Regardless, I am supposed to remove the remaining 3 bolts and slide washers in there so it mounts flush against something. So...... I guess I'm still not done installing these... |

Could you have mounted the bars in place of the black plastic? I really don't like that plastic down there on the jeep, metal bars would look really nice. |

You will see all the holes and mounts from under the plastic.... |

No. It's mounted in the only place it mounts for all model years. The only difference is the '02-'04 models have nothing in place of the plastic. |

| Post subject: | Update - Problems Resolved. |
I spoke with All J Products and got a solution, but by morning it had fixed itself halfway. All the tension built up in the pinchweld bolts slowly pulled the last center mounting plate to within just shy of 1/16" away from the frame box. I just cranked the pinchweld bolts up again and now there is full contact at the frame. Re-tightened all bolts (all 34) and even the stripped out one had a little grip left in it, so I left it as is. Just finished spray painting all the bolts and scars with rust inhibiting paint, so finally, it's done. Rock Ring is scheduled for delivery on Tuesday - then I'm DONE |
