This one is kind of different and I'm not sure it belongs in this forum, but here goes. On our way to church last weekend, my wife brought my finger rings to me so I could wear them. I don't usually wear them around the house so they were in a container. I have two: one, my wedding band and the other, a ring with a mounted gemstone. As she was getting into the KJ on the passenger side, she dropped both rings. One, the gemstone mount, lodged in the seat belt retractor housing on the passenger side. She found that immediately. The wedding band went, God knows where. The only open door was the passenger side door and the KJ was still in the garage (concrete floor). She did not hear anything hit the floor, nor have we been successful in locating the ring inside the KJ. I wasn't in the KJ yet. I have removed the plastic housing from the seat belt retractor, searched under the seats, under the carpet protectors, inside the console, in among the seat slide rails, in the crease between the seat cushion and back rest, in the parking brake handle alcove (or whatever that housing is called), no luck. I am at a loss where to look next. I was wondering how to remove the console to see if the ring might have somehow lodged in the parking brake handle alcove under the slotted rubber cover. I can't see any latches, or screws, or pry holes to remove it. Oh, one other thing. I did look under the carpet where there are holes cut for wiring harnesses. No luck there either. Any ideas? How to take the console out/apart? Anything? Thanks |

AMEN. However, it has become my problem. Thanks for the link. I'll try that route as soon as I have a couple of hours. |

For what it's worth, the passenger seat comes out easily. I took mine out in 5 minutes last Summer so that I could trace down a rattling noise. it was four bolts to get the seat out, and one bolt to remove the seatbelt retainer. |

Thanks If it happened in a CRD, it belongs in this forum I am sure our resident self appointed resident mod will approve as well Did you check the door pocket, or the grab handle area, probably did, but you did not mention it? I would probably start by removing the seat, sometimes the carpet underneath has opening where things can fall. Actually the slide rails under the seats make good hiding areas too. |

Don't dismiss the chance that it did actually hit the floor and go for a roll. |

i would find a good metal detector and start scanning. Now before any of you start ripping on how the KJ is all metal, if you know how to TUNE a good detector and know what sounds(freq) to listen for, you can actually do this. I learned mine sweeping in the Army and when you life depneds on it, you learn things real quick. The best way is to test on an area that you have access to with a ring of similar shape and size in different areas till you get it dialed in. Good luck. |

On the right side of the seat, where the lever is, there is a plastic cover. Check inside the cover. It isn't enclosed it just has a lip. The lip would be big enough to hold a ring if the ring was on its side. Worth a shot! Terry |
