I had a strainge clunking sound when starting and stopping which I and the dealership could not locate. Last night I layed on the engine while my Dad pulled forward then backed up a few dozen times on a hill with the nose down. I am still waiting for the torque converter to be replaced. It should be in next week. |

The noise was bugging me too. I haven't messed with motor mounts in thirty years. Thank You. |

Wow! That's a little scary. Good info! Thanks for taking one for the team and being the one that laid ON THE ENGINE while the truck was moving! |

We are experiencing instant rpm's like pushing the accelerator pedal in neutral. We get instant rpm's but a delay in movement - like old slushmatics. Is this the start to tc or clutch pack or solenoid failure? Build date Jan '05. |

Tired Old Dave, do you get that slushmatic feeling when putting the truck in gear immediately after starting the motor? Mine felt like that when I would start the truck and put it in gear immediately afterward. Started letting it warm up a tad before putting it in gear and it didn't do that any more. Then it threw a Check Engine Light. I took it in and they...what the heck did they do?...I can't remember. I have it written down, but I can't find it now. If you truck is doing the same thing, it's going to require tranny work before long. It's not a big job...only took my service crew about an hour. I believe it's one of the TSBs, just can't think of which one. Sorry I can't be more specific or detailed, but I'm at work and not near my truck or my paperwork. |

Thanks for the concern. Ours is a early build with numerous build issues. I've been (flaming?) on edmunds in an attempt to get some real resolution from DC. I've said good bye to owners who took a hit and bailed. This is not a TSB issue. There has been months of tranny shudder, melted trannies, etc all over the net. I was trying to get some help from high mileage owners also on this issue. We will prabably soon eat a tc and 545. Fully warm, depress the pedal and rpm's climb w/o any turbo lag but go nowhere for the rpm's and then a kick if you pushed too hard on the pedal. When we first got ours, if you would press the accelerator more than a little there was a slight engine hesitation and then you thought you had an afterburner. The first pcm tsb fixed that. I didn't have early tranny failure but looking to owners at 20k miles and above to see if we all are going to trash trannies. This is my first Jeep and my third chrysler product. The others a plymouth in the military and a chrysler new yorker in Houston. I've not had a good experiences with any of the three but the crd could've made us jeepsters for life. |
