Approximately two months ago, I purchased both the Green Diesel full-torque eco-tune and the transmission flash. I installed both of them at the same time to see what the full impact would be of having them both leveraged at the same time and be able to analyze the full impact. I have a 2006 Liberty and am running the heavy Goodyear MTRs (forgot the exact metric size at the moment but they are roughly equivelent to 31"). At the time of the flash, I had also had the check-engine light on for almost a year (EGR related code) and I was getting some odd noises when I dropped boost quickly (fluttering) which I'm sure was hard on my turbo. So, I purchased the two flashes and the code reader electronics device, sent the data to GD, and after a VERY fast turn-around of only a couple of days, I was playing with fire...

Executive Overview: I could not be happier.

Details:
(Pros)
1. Significant increase (+1 to +3) MPG in both city and highway driving.
2. CEL gone for good.
3. AWESOME new shift points in the trasmission allowing for more usable RPM range at lower revs.
4. The engine feels likes it has been given a new lease on life. It is peppy, responsive, faster, and pulls better.
5. Fuel gauge actually reads correctly.

(Cons - very insignificant)
1. There is a slight tendency for the transmission to upshift even when the accelerator is depressed fairly deeply. The only time it is even a minor nuisance is if I am merging onto a highway and not gunning it. It will quickly upshift right as the car in my rearview is quickly gaining on me and thus, to not slow them down, I have to gun it enough to drop the gear, and then the beast promptly and dutifully leaps foward with plenty of vigor. I might suggest changing the upshift point if the accelerator is pressed beyond a certain point. Again though, this is very minor and only experienced very rarely.
2. Might have been another little one, but I've forgotten it so clearly it was not very significant.

Recommendation: If you don't have this, you need it...

Bret

Good post my friend!

Im getting this in the next month,i love my crd,and have been reading a lot on the gde upgrades, but now i am a buyer, many good posts here about it,plus yours, i am a buyer for sure now!

Performance wise, tell me the truth,is there that big of a difference?I drive a lot of mountain roads,i got the crd for the torque(wich is incredible going uphill at highway speeds) and the obvious jeeps 4x4 capacitys, but you know, like every man with a kid heart when i get behind the wheel,i want always more  ,i dont really care about the fuel milleage, for sure if i save some i ll take it,but i first want more torque, more feeling from my little beast, not for speed, but for the thrill and the fun to go uphill without having to snap the throttle and for sure having fun leaving others behind hahaha...

And please guys, dont tell me it dosent get a smile on your faces when you all see other drivers faces looking at your crd going past them while they search for some power to follow you and just cant admit a jeep liberty with that diesel smell just made fun of them. :ROTFL: :ROTFL: every one of us have to admit that we got our crd s for a reason gazzers cant understand, the fun is a bonus!

Patmaz,

Yea, in my case, which is the full-torque eco tune, there really is that big of a difference when lugging up hills. one of the REALLY nice things I noticed, is how much less frequently it drops down gearing when I have my cruise control on. It takes a larger hill for it drop out of OD or downshift now. (And the fact that it engages OD at 59MPH instead of 64 MPH is a MUCH more usable speed when having to follow other cars going slower than 65.

One thing to consider: If you go with the full-torque eco tune, some of experienced torque converter shudder under heavy load. If you get this problem, it can be remedied with a newer TC either aftermarket or the newer jeep version. I occasionally have 'small' amounts of shudder if I'm lugging up a steep hill or towing, but it isn't very common for me, and when I experience it, I either let off the gas a bit or hit my overdrive button to drop the ratio. Works no prob (and cheaper than a TC. ;)

Good luck!

Search my posts for dynomometer test results on InMotion Stage II and GDE ECO and HOT tunes that confirm GDE's power claims on their website.

For your shifting "situation" do a search and find out how Warp recommends forcing your TCM to "learn". Something like driving in each gear including reverse for 20 seconds. :SOMBRERO:
After replacing my TCM and driving several hundred miles it some times still shifted early when accelerating. I had "assumed" given enough time it would eventually "learn" the different peramiters of my transmission but it didn't in 300 miles.
I understand it's a long process that can take months bfore it completly learns. I guess I didn't wait long enough :juggle:
