I very much doubt it will work too well in a CRD.
The tachometer in the CRD is marked up to about 5,000 Rpm I think while the gasser is marked up to about 7,000 Rpm.
There are lights needed for the CRD such as the glowplug light which will not be present on the gasser.
The temperature gauges also work over a different range....I am sure there are a lot more issues.

I also am sure that the dealership would have to re-program the cluster and maybe the ECM to reflect the correct value in the kilometers traveled.
My 2002 CRD , RHD and in Kms etc. has the number "34" on the bottom of the speedometer....I am sure that this is the cluster type you would need...but still may need some re-programming!
Whatever you do, make sure you do not get a cluster from the newer models...our CRD uses a different communications protocol to the 2005 upwards models ie. PCI as apposed to the CANBUS protocol of the newer KJs.

You need to move this post to the "Love the Torque" forum...this Tech forum is for the experts to tell us how to do things..not for questions to be raised. :)
