Just wonder how many people that live in the north with below freezing winter have had issues with provents (or other ccv mods) freezing/clogging? Also if anyone has a clean tailgate or rear door near lower Michigan or northern Ohio I will buy it! |

No problem with either one here. I've driven on the interstate in -11F with the EHM without a problem. |

It happened to me two winters in a row and is now sitting on the shelf again and will stay off this time. I had it mounted by the firewall on the passenger side with short neat plumbing. Twice it belched oil all over the area when the pressure relief opened up. I looked at it last winter and the filter media was clogged with a thick black sludge. I should note most of my driving is short trips at low speeds. |

I disconnected my homemade Provent last winter, but will leave the new one on this year. I use steel braided hoses connected to the catch bottle secured against the radiator. There should be enough heat to avoid frosting. I only need to add a relief valve, which will make me feel more secure, just in case... |

Instead of using a filter media like the Provent, my oil separator uses coarse steel wool, the old tried and true technology that works. I mounted it along the right radiator tank, ran 3/4" hydraulic return line hoses, and plumbed in a 3/8" drain line back into the sump so I did not need to drain it every oil change. With -15F last winter, I did not have freeze ups. In addition to the local errands, I make 42 mile each way trips to Chicago Midway airport and/or drive to projects too close to fly to. So, I do a bunch of warmed up highway driving less prone to freeze ups. |

No issues with the Provent here in the land of cryogenics for the living. |

I don't think temperature alone is the cause for Provents plugging up I suspect it's caused by high humidity and LOW not necessarly freezing temperatures. That's when it happens for me. When mine starts venting it's full of sludge and is not frozen My garage never gets below 40f where the CRD is kept so it should not be subject to freezing. It it were kept warm I'm sure it would work fine |
