I didn’t know the power windows in the Jeep Liberty are notorious for breaking. The window bracket becomes too thin to support the weight of the window, at which point it snaps and down comes the glass! My driver side rear window just went down sitting in the parking lot. (I seldom ever use it) Here is a link with some info. http://www.steigerperformance.com/products/sp13001.html |

If the lift plate broke you can get it fixed for free at the dealership as you have a '06 and they extended the warranty on '06/'07 KJ's for that lift plate failure. They basically install that kit for you for free. |

Depends on the build date which '06 are covered. Mine wasn't. Some kits on EBAY are a better value than the Steiger ones, IMHO. |

Like Wobbly pointed out the earlier 06's are not covered. This should really be a recall rather than warranty. If you also believe that it's a safety issue having the windows randomly drop into the door while driving down the highway then make sure that you file a report with NHSTA http://www.nhtsa.gov/ |

Very pleased with the Steiger fix. stoutdog had one window fall so he and I bit the bullet and did all 4 windows on both Jeeps. The only comment I'd add to the Steiger instructions is relative to verifying that the ball stud at the bottom of your window is perpendicular to the repair bracket. Given the viewing angle that can be a bit hard to do. A good double check is to make sure that the clip that fits behind the ball stud is evenly installed (top vs. bottom); if it's not even that ball stud needs to be bent a bit more in the appropriate direction otherwise the ball is likely to pop out of the clip. You can figure out how I know. |

My local dealer ran a vehicle inquiry on my Jeep and it does not have an extended warranty on the window. They can only order the part as a complete assembly. Part number 4589267AD $69.10 +tax Labor $70.00+tax. |

At a cost of $305.00. We decided to call Chrysler customer care. They were very interested! I pointed out that this is a common problem. (They noted most jeep owners are not calling them & posting on the internet doesn't get into their complaint file.) Expressing my concern that this is a safety & security issue. Chrysler customer care said they would escalate this and requested a copy of the bill. I was delighted to receive a check reimbursing me for the full amount. |
