i wondered if anyone has used the pump from a 7.3 powerstroke delphi part number hfp920 i have one at my shop and i think it would be for easier to install than the in tank set up i can get it for $150 so its also a lot cheaper. I have every thing so maybe ill just do it next week.

Howdy crd351 Welcome to LOST

don't know of anyone trying powerstroke parts - actually you can normally get the Cummins intank unit for ~$130 or so and it fits like it was designed ....I think it was - just the bean counters cut it - it works great.

I believe the 7.3 fuel pump runs at 70psi. I have read that anything over 10-15psi can do bad things to the CP3 injection pump. Most folks stay under 10 psi to be safe. Also, the pump needs to be able to flow through if it ever fails. I'm not sure if the 7.3 pump does this. I've got a Facet lift pump on the shelf. It was only like $50 buck and puts out about 6 psi.

lots of folks have run different inline pumps - Facet's, Kennedy's I think someone even had a Mr Gasket. - only concern is that if you have an Air-in-fuel problem - you still have the tank connectors that are designed for pressure - that are running under vacuum.

but they don't always leak - the most common is the fuel head and any lift pump eliminates that problem.

you r right it's normal range is 50 to 70 psi ans far as the connectors they are the same as the pressure ones on other mopar vehicles. i am going to use the air dog pump i took a duramax which also uses a cp3 and it is set at 8 psi so it should be fine thank for the input
