Post subject:  Jeep Wrangler Unlimited CRD, weird noise at 1700-2200 RPMs,

Hi, I own a 2007 Wrangler Unlimited JK CRD, and a weird metallic (at 1700-2200 RPMs, only at Direct, 1 o 2, not at Neutral) sound started after a light off road trip last week. ( I checked everything that could be loose). Any ideas?

I will post a link to a Youtube video of the sound. I really need help, dealerships down here are not very reliable. (Southamerica - Chile)

Wow I'd love to see some pics of a Wrangler with the 2.8 TD
I couldn't hear clearly, maybe exhaust rattle. You say it only does it while rolling, look for debris in the drive-train

I can hear what sounds like a metallic rattle (e.g. 2 pieces of metal tapping each other) at about 1800 rpm like something is loose. Check exhaust, skid pans, etc.

X2 sounds like you got loose skids or exhaust.

I would also love to see pics of your wrangler crd. Wish we had those here in the US.

I had a sound like that on my KJ at the same RPM range and it turn out to be dirty turbo vanes and dirty turbo in general, my sounded like that but had not warning lights and had no power loss. solution I found. I had it professionally inspected at a turbos only shop. They opened cleaned it and something else that I can't remember now and noise was gone for good. best of all it was only $250 for the whole job.
