I just checked for work stickers under the hood of our 05 and found a "replaced TC & reprogramed TCM ECM F-37" and a dealer # with the date of 1/2/07. Now my question is, is this TC the one with the heavier springs or just a new unit as was in the truck originaly?
I had asked Keith at GDE about the stock TC's and their TCM tune and he said the original TC's had 300 lb springs in them and the replacement TC's with the heavier springs were not available untill Oct 09.
If that in fact is correct, what was the improvment in the replacement TC done in Jan,07?
I hope to do the GDE tunes to the ECM and possibly the TCM also. Any thoughts?

NO :furious:

This dead horse has been drug around for many years :dead:
There has been a total of THREE torque converters associated with the 05 and 06 CRDs :-)r
The first ones were in those built prior to 11/2/05 and they were replaced and that is what you had. They had some kind of cushion that failed very early.
Those built after 11/2/05 had the same springs but without the cushion, actually an older version. This is what was put in yours
Then when the newer more powerful RA428 engine came out, none in the North American market is whey they're called "Euro" here, is when the one with the heavier springs was developed.

The newer one did not appear untill mid to late 09 like Keith said :JEEPIN:

Regarding you GDE questions. I have the EcoTune and TCM tune on the stock, post F-37 but not Euro torque convertor, and love both. No TC problems to date.

OK,
looks like its not hype..... Out of the first nearly 2K miles, 20mpg is about it running around mostly in 4th or lesser gears. 8 bones should buy a oil hammer tuned the way it should have been in the first place.
Thanks
