I may run to Harbor Freight and pickup rad hose plyers to aid in removing hoses. I have not really looked underneath the jeep because it is a dark area to see what the heck is going on. Lets say I locate heater core hoses going through firewall and unhook them attach some cleaning hoses to fittings. One going to container other with flush kit attached, pump some water through heater core backwards. Maybe put some rad cleaner in hose let sit for awhile then flush. Now how about Viscous heater? Am I on right track for doing the job correct? Any pictures would be fantastic to aid in doing job. I also am willing to have rad shop clean it out with a machine if that is better way.

Wait a minute, chief. Why are you flushing the heater core? And what do you propose to do about the viscous heater? Do you know what the viscous heater is supposed to do?

I am just guessing that you are not satisfied with the cabin heater performance. Either it doesn't warm up fast enough or doesn't put out heat after it does warm up. But that's just a guess. I'd like to suggest you start at the beginning, rather than at an assumed solution. These diesels do not perform exactly like the gas trucks most folks are familiar with.

As for the viscous heater, it is supposed to help the engine warm up faster, and it either works or doesn't, there is no "clean it out" for the viscous heater. Either replace it if it isn't working, or unplug/remove it if you don't want it helping with the warm-up from cold.

You also need to tell us why you think the heater core is plugged up. I've never heard of a Libby CRD plugging up the heater core. My guess, and again it's only a guess, is that your thermostat has failed open and the engine never warms up. If, after you have driven it at highway speeds for about 10 minutes, the temp gauge is more than one click below the center line, you need to replace the thermostat.

As for the speed of warm up, do be aware that diesels simply never warm up if you just let them sit and idle, especially in cold weather. If you fire it up cold, give it 30 seconds to circulate the oil and such, then drive off normally, it should warm up in at most 2 or 3 miles, even in cold weather, even in the frozen Nawth. It will warm up more slowly if you are in town and only doing 35 mph, and faster on the open highway at 55 or 60. But idling: never.

Soooo, back to the original question: why are you trying to flush the heater core? Did you put some foreign substance in there and clog it up? Is the radiator clogged up, too? What? We'd love to help, but we need more info.

Ok I checked out link, remove 5/8s upper hose and attach garden hose. Were does the other hose attach? Should be 2 hoses for the vicous heater right? My jeep is 40 miles away or I could run out and have good look. I did install the jegs housing and 195 Chevrolet thermostat

The other hose is not removed.

The other5/8" hose remains attached to the viscous heater so that clear water can circulate through the system to flush out the old coolant.

Follow the directions and you'll have a squeaky clean cooling system.
