We just got a 2006 CRD 4x4 that we enjoy driving and hearing the music of a diesel. Had our first window regulator go out which I will probably zip tie the glass up until I get the parts from Steiger. Our biggest problem has been that the previous owner must have took a cat with them all the time. Got all the hair out, but the dander is giving us fits! Had the carpet cleaned, but it still is causing allergy problems. Anyone know how to get rid of the dander problem? My 7 year old son prefers the Jeep over the 2008 Super Duty King Ranch Diesel! |

Welcome aboard. Read Sir Sam's NOOB guide and scroll down to the link to manuals. Go to that link and get copies of BOTH the 2005 and 2006 factory service manuals; 2005 lacks diesel cooling data/has illustration keys; lacks diagnostic codes and steps while 2006 is reverse. If you are installing the Steiger window brackets, I have, with window ball studs that are retained by clip(s) be sure the clip(s) are fully engaged behind the ball stud head before you test window operation and close things up. If the clip is off center they can/will pop off, I know. Dander. I have no brillant ideas other than you may have to remove the seats and carpet to do a deep carpet clean and seat clean too if the seats are cloth. Steam cleaning may be a good idea and apparently cat dander is very light and sticks to surfaces so best do a deep cleaning (soap and water) of the vehicle interior including to the extent possible inside the HVAC system vents. If using a vacuum use one with a HEPA filter. In the long run the dander apparently does go away. PS if you are near/at/over 100k be sure that the timing belt job gets done or has been done. Very expensive playing with fire to delay. |

Do you have leather of fabric seats? you might want to just replace the carpet... |
