Installed the Magnaflow 12226 muffler on my CRD last night. Ordered it from Amazon, $74 shipped. Purchased 18" exhaust extension piece at Autozone for $? (I forget, maybe 7 to 15?). I used a plasma cutter to remove the old muffler, cutting in the back before the swoop up where the exhaust bends up around the axle and cut up front past the muffler coupling so that the coupling (the narrowest point) was removed. Welded in with mig.

Sort of disappointed in the sound or lack of. No difference, that I could tell in the sound (still very quiet). I like a little rumble but didnt want to straight pipe out of freeway drone concern. I'm thinking I would have been ok with straight pipe.

Anyhow, it fit fine and its only been one day but I think seat of the pants its a tad quicker. The most obvious feeling is in coasting, as all others have posted. Where I had to accelerate to go down a steep grade where I live (4 miles very steep), I now can coast.

Overall, pleased, less than $100 and it has to help with mpgs with the efficiency in coasting, but I dont have any #s yet.

I cut everything off, cat and muffler. To me it now sounds like a pissed off squirrel when I really accelerate and I don't really care for it. It did help with back pressure, coasting, and mileage a little

I got bored the other day so I took a long screwdriver and hammer to my cat. I got all the platinum out of it(I'm rich now)

I'm going to put my cat back on just for legal reasons and go with the 12226 muffler as well
