the previous owner had a small fender bender and because of it the wire patch cord was ripped off. I instead carefully hooked the wires up with the correct waterproof materials. However now when the lights are on the parking light stays on , on the passenger side and stays off on the drivers side. However when I use the blinker it works on both sides. IN addition the rear drivers side lamp also does not come on but the blinker also works. There are three wires in the front with one of them black which I assumed was the ground. I tried attaching the wires both ways and still the drivers side bulb wont go on . Its not the bulb because I checked that all out with new ones. Could the black wire on be the ground which may be causing this problem? Im stumped. Its a 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD |

Sounds like you may have crossed the wires. Swap em again and see what happens. |

The black wire is the ground...try temporary fitting an extra wire to a clean chassis point to provide ground to the black wire. Also the contacts inside the bulb holder can be dirty/corroded. |

I dont understand it fully but there was a bad fuse at I think 8 and when I replaced it everything was ok. Strange that the left side of jeep was affected by this . The rear tailight also did not work at the time. Thanks |

It's electrics so don't try to understand it just be happy it's fixed. I once, back in the day of sealed beam bulbs, had a vehicle where a bad headlight bulb immediatedly resuted in turn signal misbehaviour even though those 2 systems were on separate differently fused circuits with different grounds. |
