No, so you don't have to look for it. The heater inlet is found under the cowl (where the windshield wipers are) an has like a gutter guard over it. You can just see it here.

Pull out any rotten vegetation sitting on top of the air intake, that is it. |

If anyone gets in there I'd sure like to see a picture of the "screen" and dam. Back in the day grill vents were pretty much wide open and you would be amazed at the amount of vegetation and other "stuff" that migrated over any dam and into the heater core. I took to taking the intake panel, between the windshield and hood off and gluing window screen to the under side to prevent that from happening on my purchased new vehicles. However on my purchased used 1993 Dodge Cummins it was so bad I had to carefully cut a porthole (finished it with a screw in marine inspection port) into the heater box to dig the crud out. Unless that screen is fine mesh it might need some help. |

There is a screen directly behind the glove box on my gasser once you pop it out. Not sure if the crds have them or not. Mine was almost completely clogged with crud so I vacuumed it and wiped it with a rag. It's in front of the door that opens when you switch the air to circulate. |

Yes if you pop the glove box retaining arms so it will drop down and then look up in there with a light you can see a screen. It doesn't address my concern about outside stuff getting into the HVAC box but it does keep larger particles from getting in when the HVAC system is set on recirculate. Mine had a bit of dust bunny fuzz on the cabin side that wiped off with a damp rag. Just to confirm its function I fired the beast up and flipped the AC to recirculate and sure enough a door behind that screen flipped up to shut off the outside air intake. I've made a note to look under the cowl grill when I get a chance to see how substantial that debris dam is and whether extra screen might be in order. Will post whenever I find out one way or another but it won't be soon. GDE turbo install higher on list. |
