Started to get a clunk when going into gear, also a vibration with engine load. Picked up replacement u-joints yesterday. Well jacked it up today, marked shaft to rear, also trans. Pulled shaft, well I found the problem, one of the welded on weights is missing from the driveshaft.Nice little clean square on the shaft. So I will be taking it to a local machine shop that does balance work. Seems with me if it wasn't for bad luck I would not have no luck at all.

Well just got off the phone with the machineshop, driveshaft is ready for pickup, new ujoints installed and balanced. Total cost $60.00. What gets me is, they have the recall on the lower rear control arms, well living in one of the salt belt states, mine look good. I'm more concerned with the upper arm, and the driveshaft was rusty as hell. We both agree that the weight let loose, then hammered the rear joint. After I get the lower control arms replaced, and it gets alittle warmer will be dropping the rear and either seal/paint the upper control arm or replace it.
