I was pretty certain we were going to have to rebuild the transmission in our CRD..

Under light acceleration there was a hesitation during the 2-3 shift, and hitting O-D (4th) felt like someone was pressing the brake during the transition. It's been getting worse, and I'm pretty sure it was responsible for eating the rubber mounts on the rear lower control arms..

Anyhow, brought it to a local shop, described the problem, and left it. After he drove it he was pretty certain it would need the rebuild too. Then he pulled the codes and saw that the battery had been removed (another code) - probably while I was doing the timing belt but before that it could have been when I replaced the battery (old red-top gave out). So, he thinks that one of the battery failures may have done it.

Seeing that, he used the tool to reset the codes and have the transmission do a quick re-learn; it seemed back to normal. So, we replaced both filters, re-filled with ATF+4... and we have a 'new' transmission.

So, just to let you all know, funky shifting isn't always mechanical! :JEEPIN:

And then sometimes it is. Had the same transmission issues you had. Waiting on a back ordered valve body for the Princess's ride.
