My brother has a pair of rancho 9000 (rs999267) that he'd give me that are brand new. I tow my yj with a heavy duty dual axle trailer and thought they may help with towing. I just installed a firestone coil-rite kit and if he's giving me the shocks why not? He said they are 14 3/4" closed eye to eye and 22 1/2" open eye to eye. I measured the shock on the car and it's 18" bolt to bolt. This should work right? Especially with it being 9 point adjustable so I should be able to find a happy medium in ride quality and tow stability by the flick of the dial and then adjusting the pressure in the air bags. What do you guys think?

Does anybody have a guess if these will work? Am I right to assume it will work since the length seams to be correct?

No, I don't know if this works. It's a shock for a Ford something. Check if the crush sleeves are wide enough. If so, you could fit it on your KJ, but you need a bumpstop to prevent it from bottoming out..I would also check max droop, so you don't snap a brake hose...or something else.

Sounds like it should work. I've put Rancho 5k and 9ks on lots of different cars and went off of the length like you are doing, worked fine.

You should have a bumpstop inside your rear coils. Only problem other than if you do not like the valving is if they bottom, which will destroy them. You have to make sure under the most severe bump that the shock never runs out of travel. They probably will be OK if they end up being droop limiters.

I have airbags in the rear coils which should keep them from bottoming out. If that is the biggest fear then i guess they should work ?
