Just a quick status report for anyone interested:

2006, I am the second owner--was originally garaged in Las Vegas, now in Los Angeles.

Only issues so far have been needing to replace my engine mounts a few thousand miles ago and dealing with the crappy window regulators on the drivers and passengers windows.

I recently had a "limp mode" event which was fixed by pumping the primer until hard. I have a lift pump in my garage waiting to be installed when this issue becomes more than an occasional nuisance (only happened three times in the last two years). I will replace the original fuel filter head at that point as well.

My stock torque converter is behaving pretty well--I get a little shudder when shifting between 2nd and 3rd at full throttle, but 99% of my driving experience is shudder free. When it starts to get bad, I'll think about going Euro or Suncoast.

In general I'm really happy with my compact SUV that has great towing ability, good offroad-ability and great fuel economy compared to similar gassers--the only things that are bugging me are the rattles and interior quality issues that come from being a Chrysler product. I agree that this is a great niche vehicle that isn't for the "set it and forget it" type of owner--I feel like I have to keep a watchful eye on things, but like I said, so far I've been happy.

Good luck, fellow CRD'rs!

Great to hear you're enjoying your rig! I'm up in Oakland. There aren't too many of us crd's in California! You should also consider the GDE ecotune. It made a huge difference. I'm the second owner and have 92k miles.

Nice, I'm a second owner in PA. had mine over 2.5 years now when it had just under 38,000 now its got over 70,000. I like it for all the same reasons. I have always been a somewhat involved owner with all my past cars doing as much maintenance as I can in my driveway. so tinkering and checking things out on the CRD seems to work for me. my CRD has been pretty much as reliable as the the subaru outback I traded

...oh, and a big "thank you" to everyone in this community who put their time and effort into posting information on their CRD's here. Finding this forum and realizing what wealth of knowledge is here really was the reason I took the plunge and bought my little truck--I knew the issues had been vetted and solutions for the quirks had been found.

You guys and gals are a really unique group of gearheads and Jeep owes L.O.S.T. a lot--the CRD would have probably gone the way of that AMC Diesel Wagon someone posted a link about recently if this site didn't exist! "...what Diesel Wagon?", you ask...exactly!
