What kind of milage are you getting? Where are you pulling it? Any power issues?

This past weekend I did a 1500 mile trip with a small single axle utility trailer, the weight of the trailer changed throughout the trip due to the change of cargo within the trailer. Other important factors FIVE passengers and luggage for the weekend, 90% of the mileage was highway the rest were country roads. Hand calculations ranged from 22-27 mpg.

I bought my CRD specifically to pull this little dog trailer. I haven't hauled it any long distances yet, but have loaded up the dogs and the 20 ga water tank (about 1000 lbs) and taken it for a spin, and you can hardly tell it's there behind the Jeep. The tires of the trailer line up well with the Jeep's and relatively small size of both make backing and general maneuverability excellent, important for getting around remote MN logging roads. The combination of torque and fuel efficiency is hopefully going to make this an excellent little bird-dogging rig.

Not mine - talk to Danoid (but no towing thread is complete without this photo)

I pull my one of a kind custom detailed faux log cabin around the various ski hills and music festivals of central BC. Rig includes a full size wood stove to keep toasty during the winter months.

Weight: 3,200 lbs.
My mileage when towing: Between 15-16 mpg

I only pulled the Mach1 a few mile, so I cant give you MPG. But I will say the trailer would need brakes if it was to be pulled a long distance with the Jeep. The 6x12 trailer was pulled from Gulfport Mississippi to Homer Alaska and the Jeep averaged around 17 mpg, would have been better but there are some steep grades along the route. The Liberty is stock.

We pulled this Wellcraft Costal 240 with the 2006 CRD we had.
In and out of the water, 4wheel low.
and back and forth to the gas station 4 wheel high.
I think the total distance was only about 6 miles, but really did a good job!
Lots of folks were "lookin"!
I'd do it again.
Current CRD doesn't have a hitch or electrical connectors, so we use the Excursion now and it definitely feels safer!
That said, anyone have a wrecked Liberty with the OEM Cat5 hitch and all the relays for the 7pin?

Boat, trailer and gear weigh about 4100 lbs. Gets up and goes just fine. The surge brakes work, but I give myself a little extra time to stop anyway. One of my competitors took his CRD & J/24 combo from California to Minnesota and back, no problem. I regularly do 60 to 80 miles at a time for regattas with mine. San Francisco, too.

I've pulled a 21 foot travel trailer, 3280 lb dry weight, 5,000 lb fully loaded back and forth across the US a couple times. Before ECO tune, I got 10-14 mpg (uphill into the wind, flat/downhill with wind). With ECO tune, I seem to get 13-16 mpg, except for that one tankful into a 50+ mph headwind going across Oklahoma (I'll never do that again, I promise -- got 9 mpg on that one).
