I want to swap the existing cloth seats in my sport with heated leather seats.

Has anyone ever done it successfully?

Also, I have an EVIC ready to be installed, what will it take?

I just installed a Evic in my 05 sport the wiring is very simple the hardest part ( for me ) was curing the hole I tried using a plastic retainer from a WJ and I cut the whole to big make sure you use a KJ retainer it took about 20 minitutes to run the wires and mount everything and it work's just like it doe's from the factory but make sure your evic is from a 04+ KJ or your temp and door readings won't work.

Great ... so did you have to modify the wiring?

either you install leather covers on your existing seats, or you install leather seats into your existing vehicle. If you find a set of nice stock leather seats to swap in you will need to remove the passenger occupancy sensor from your old passenger seat and install into your new leather seat.

Oh plus some other wiring stuff that isnt too bad, you just need to run some wires around.......Ive done it before....I can help you through it but I don't want to post the specifics until you actually do it since I need to figure it out all over again.

Sam, I have the seats in my garage, they are motorized and heated from a donor 2005 LIberty gasser.

I also took 4' of harness with the connectors. I appreciate the assistance.

No,There is 4 wires for the Evic you run them down the Apiller to the OBDII port and one to a keyed ignition source here is a guide I used to figure out where they go http://alucinari.net/jeep/kj/evic_install/

Just a note for those of you that need to pull either front pillar/handle. They are held in place by 2 bolts neither of which has a rational head (e.g. slotted, phillips, hex, torx); the OEM head is a 5.5mm or 7-32" hex head IIRC. I did not have either but was able to use a hemostat to spin them out; I'll be cutting a slot in each for reinstall and future removal

A better suggestion for those evil pillar screws: Take one to Home Depot and match the threads (it is like an M6 or M8 IIRC) and select a Hex-socket cap screw... Then just use an Allen key to install / remove from now on. MUCH easier.

Oh ok good. Well guess now I actually need to look through the FSM for the relevant wiring diagrams........basically most of the wires in those bundles connect up from left seat to right seat. There is an electronic control module for the heated seats that is under one of the seats. You will need to tie in the existing wiring and connect the wires left to right, and then tie into 2 power sources......the factory circuit for the heated seats is not present, while the wire runs under the carpet, the fuse is missing and the wiring in the dash is missing......so you cannot just add a fuse.

I'd recommend De-pinning your existing wires that you need to retain and adding them to the new plugs.........

I'll dig up some diagrams for you tonight.....

Ok, I will be comparing the existing harness in my CRD with the 4' section of harness I took from the donor vehicle, to see if by chance it has the wiring for the motorized seats already present. I doubt it but the process will get me started towards making sense of this jungle of wires.

It's not. The power wire exists under the seats but its useless to us....

Basically you make all the wires that need to go from the left to right connect up......and then you need to goto the dash for a few others(3 if memory serves, constant 12v, switched, and illumination)

The donor harness may already consider the connections between the seats.... don't you think? The connection between the seats may already be there.

You will have one extra plug on the new donor than your existing, but I would recommend you repin and add the wires on the exist plug so there are no splices.

Sam, do you have a road map?

Heated seat wiring scheme I found on the net, if you need it, I suggest that you download it to your pc before it is taken down.

Hey racetracer, I think the guy that posted that picture did not use a relay in that configuration. If you do find a way for the heat that would be great!

AHh I found the post again on jeepkj.com. I guess I remembered it wrong, he said it does work as in that diagram, but he did change it? Or maybe the diagram reflects the changes...

Quote:
I wired it up last night and the circuit will work as shown......

I'm going to clean up the diagram (I eliminates a tap splice and the red jumper wire between the Pink/Grey and the Red)

So I guess it IS a go!

Although the connectors and wiring on my liberty are the same as indicated in the picture above, unfortunately this set up has not worked on my KJ. It may work on a previous year though.

Any assistance with the heated seat hook up for a 2005 KJ would be greatly apreciated.

Any electrical engineers or someone familiar with the set up or who has done the conversion successfully, would consider giving me some direction or suggestions on this?
