Can any one tell me the speed the transmission should change up to 5th. My crd will not go into top gear untill i am travelling over 50mph. I am sure the mpg would be a lot better if the tranny changed earlier.

The orginal stock final shift point was ca. 58mph; the F-37 detune raised that point to ca. 62mph; the GDE transmission tune moves it back to ca. 58mph and changes the TC lockup protocal. Those transmissions that have the ca. 58mph final shift point will hold that gear down to under 55mph and IIRC the GDE ones will go lower. The ones with the 62mph final shift point drop out of that gear somewhat higher.

If your goal is to maximize mpg get into the top gear and then drop speed back to just above where the tranny will downshift.

Many thanks for your reply, I do feel that with the amount of low torque developed by the crd motor the shift points could be reduced to lower speeds, rpm seems to hover around the 2000 mark. I feel that the shift points would be more suited to the gas powerd models. Would it be possible to change shift points or is that jeep main dealer territory only.

If wheel and tire size was increased would the transmision shift up at lower speeds or make the problem worst? Im running 235x70x16"

dealers can't even touch it -
they connect the computer to the factory mainframe and the factory downloads the latest/greatest -
dealer has no input

if you're in Europe - a manual should be an option (not allowed in the US)

You could swap the TCM for a RAM or GC TCM and cross your fingers to lower the shift points.
Mine can go into 5th lock as low as 47MPH (75KMH), but it took several months to train it to do so. Also I have a Suncoast Conveter with a Transgo Kit to handle the extra low end torque.
If you pump or converter is weak, it will shudder.
I can send the PN in a PM for the RAM but I don't know the PN for the GC.
The one member who tried the GC TCM, loved it and kept the info to himself.
I heard he seriously guards his CRD with a stockpile of defensive hardware so no one steals his GC TCM.
Since you are across the pond, you will need to have a Bone yard TCM shipped to you.
