Currently have suncoast converter and transgo shift kit along with inmotion tune. The converter has started to develop a shudder and just had the transmission serviced and there was a moderate amount of bronze materiel noted. So need to do some tranny work. My libby is part of the safety recall for the rear suspension parts. Called dealership to set up appt., they needed to order parts and they called yesterday to let me know they where in> called back to setup appt and they said it looks like we need the vehicle all day. I questioned that and found out they also ordered parts for the F37 update also. (Never had it done). Vehicle has 110,000 miles on it. I didn't set up an appt. as I needed to figure out when I give it to them for a full day. Questions would be: 1: I'm assuming that the new torque converter is not the euro version????? If it is should I have them install, I don't think I can talk them out of not reflashing but I guess I can just reflash with inmotion or GDE later. 2: what are my options for tranny...just rebuild at local tranny shop????....dealership????? anything aftermarket???? Transmision seems to be working fine but if they do the F37 would this be a good time to do the tranny???? Thanks for any advice. . |

How long have you had your SunCoast TC? I just had mine installed by SunCoast and the TC has a 2 year warranty which I assume applies regardless of who did the install. Your position with respect to the F-37 is a bit odd and I'm not sure I fully understand the implications but my The F-37 is a recall not a TSB so I suspect there is some obligation on the part of the dealer to do the work even if you don't want it. IIRC the F-37 consisted of inspection and replacement, if necessary, of the TC and the ECU/TCM detune. You don't have an OEM TC so replacement would not be Jeep's obligation although I suppose it's possible that they cannot tell that your TC is not OEM (I have no clue if SunCoast marks their TCs but it would not surprise me) in which case you might get lucky and get Jeep to give you a new TC. If so that new TC will NOT be a Euro. However, IIRC there have been at least 1 or 2 folks who got a Euro installed as part of a late F-37 by paying for the part (the recall covered the labor). As for the flash I'd be pretty sure they will reflash the ECU (don't know Inmotions policy or price to reflash) but you may be able to talk them into "forgetting" to do the TCM shift point reflash. I know for a fact that some have been successful in haveing this part of the F-37 omitted (my 05 was one where it was omitted but I don't know how because I purchased the vehicle used). So your best bet may be to see if you can prohibit the dealer from doing anything but the suspension recall and take it to a tranny shop to deal with the tranny issues. |

Unless i can maybe get them to do the euro converter on my nickel and send labor to chrysler i think i will just have them do the suspension recall and leave it at that. Thanks. |

F37 was not actually a recall. It was a Customer Satisfaction Notification. That means that you don't have to get it if you don't want it. You see, they can't just reduce your engine power without your permission. You paid for it. If you give them permission to do it, then there's no going back. They just say the flash can't be undone, and the old software is no longer available. |

about 2 years ago - danoid got the 'standard' TC to be the Euro TC - if they ordered it - it should be Euro (if they had it in stock - who knows) I would be surprised they would do anything 'factory' with an aftermarket TC installed? |
