I have seen that a few members have over 100k in mileage.

Who's got higher miles like this?

How has your experience been?

Maintenance wise, what have you had to go through?

CRD #1 has 116,000 miles, with very few problems. But I really don't consider that a lot of miles. I fully expect to reach at least 200,000 mile or more.
All I have had to replace so far is tires, the battery, the multi-function light switch/stalk.
Upgraded to Samco hoses.
And, I had the common EGR failure problem that the GDE tune eliminated.
I have always used the Mobil 1 0-40w oil, and I follow the maintenance schedule B religiously.
Now that I have jinxed myself, the jeep will probably swallow a ceramic glow plug. :grim:
Oh yeah, I bought CRD #2 last July with 107,000 miles on it. I was tormented with an intermittent " crank/no start" condition last winter that turned out to be a crank sensor that was breaking down. I haven't any knowledge of it's prior history other than that I have a receipt for replacement of ball joints and motor mounts.

Jeepdan,

Huzzah! And thank you for the information. I really don't consider 100K miles to be high for a diesel either. I just consider it high for a Jeep Liberty CRD that was made in either 05-06. Relatively high.

Sounds like you've had solid maintenance and good luck.

Me, on the other hand, pretty good maintenance and sh*t hitting the fan...or the turbo to be more specific.

I wouldn't consider 116,000 high for a diesel

- but it is high for a Timing Belt - which you didn't list in the maintenance????

(I'm about 108,000 and the timing belt was replaced at the dealership when they changed the Head at 70K......)

My 2005 Limited has 130k miles with the timing belt changed at 123k miles with a lot of help from jeepdan. Thermostat only problem.

Sorry for not noting that. Timing belt/water pump was serviced a 103,000 miles, I didn't note that specifically because it was normal scheduled maintenance.
Oh yea, I forgot to mention that the thermostat failed open at 84,000 miles. And I replaced the fuel filter head with the new improved version. Pretty much typical CRD stuff.

I don't if it has been mentioned here in forums or not, but it is real important to let your turbo cool down for a few before shutting it down, and stay on top of oil and filter changes. :JEEPIN:

I recently rolled over 70,000 in my 2005 crd. However, my father owns a 2006 crd and just rolled over 170,000.

Can you explain that further? Do you let the engine idle before turning it off?

Funny, I was just wondering this myself, what mileage others are at. We are just over 103,000 miles.

I've replaced the shocks, struts, control arms, ball joints, battery, thermostat, EGR failed but fixed with GDE Hot tune, Samco hoses, front brakes, alternator pulley, and I'm sure more is needed or I've done but these come to mind.

The parts for the TB and water pump change have been ordered and are on their way.

103,000 miles for a diesel is no big deal but I'll be honest, the turbo failing or the head warping is a concern for me. I would love to see this thing reach 200,000 or 300,000 miles. However, sometimes I feel like I'm recklessly throwing money into this Jeep at times because there are better vehicles out there but we own this one. Now with my Dodge Ram, 100,000 miles is absolutely no concern for me nor do I have an issue with maintenance repairs because there really is nothing to replace it with. These are a few discussions that my wife and I have been have the last couple of weeks.

I thought about dumping it but I'm not sure what we could replace it with getting this kind of mileage and 4wd. I guess it's all a give and take in life. I'm sure a Toyota 4runner would be much less of a hassle and last just as long or longer...

Mileage is about 151k.

Purchased @ 29k; they performed F37 before delivery... If I'd only known! :dead:

Replaced EGR/FCV @ 31k (! - of course, no warranty on emissions equipment)

The above provided incentive to seek a more permanent solution to said equipment (SEGR).
Said equipment has been working merrily away since then. 8)

Installed the in-tank lift pump about 50k - no more issues with air in the fuel system, smoke, rough running since.

Alternator's decoupler failed a year or so ago (no mileage, probably 100k+). Replaced that.

Other than routine maintenance (tires, brake pads, accessory belts, filters, etc) - no problems until last year, when transmission issues took out the rubber mounts in the rear LCAs, so I replaced them @ 130k or so. Didn't realize it was the transmission at this time.

They failed again (I wasn't the primary driver, had no idea it was shifting that harshly) - a few months later. Lot of torque steer when they go bad! Before I could fix them..

Timing belt broke @ 145k (oops - not paying enough attention). :ALONE:

Replaced the lifters/rocker arms, water pump, thermostat (failed open), belts, idler pulleys, tensioner, radiator hoses, accessory belts, accessory idlers last month.

Had very strange behavior in the trans when I got it going again, and I made the connection between the LCA failures and how it was shifting. Replaced the filters & fluid a month ago and performed a quick learn on the TCM. Transmission is back to normal.

Replaced the rear LCAs again now that the transmission is fixed.

I've got replacement brake hoses - I saw some degrading of the rubber cover when replacing the LCA's - probably install them soon.

No complaints - except for dropping the ball on the timing belt it's been very reliable and a great rig.

i have 143000 miles on the jeep. I hoping for 300000 miles out of it. I done timing belt at 130000 and all the pulleys in side. I rebuilt the transfer case . Belt and hoses service stuff. All the problem make me wonder.

103,000 and counting. In addition to what's listed in my sig I changed mounts and thermostat around 80K. And tires, brakes, and such. No suspension issues thus far.

My sister's 2002 gas Liberty is still going strong at 180,000+... so this thing has a ways to go before I'll feel satisfied. :)

I did my timing belt at 99K.

What kind of driving has everyone on this thread been doing? Anybody off-roading? Towing? Really slammin it?

Or are just doing normal, everyday commuting type driving?

Just normal driving but it is my wife's... She does not let the turbo cool and barely allows the thing to get oil pressure before taking off. It doesn't matter how many times I harp on her about it. Most of the time I think she could be dragging a tree behind her, after running it over, without knowing about it. In otherwords, I'm always playing catch up to what the current issue is. So other then a woman driving it, its normal day to day stuff.

Mine gets babied with an easy foot on the throttle for MPG, but, my daily commute requires me to climb a 9% grade for a couple miles so the turbo and cat stays cleaned out. I average about 300-500 miles a year of heavy towing with it also.
No serious off-roading, lift kits, or large tires anymore. I guess I'm getting old :(
