So, I've been looking around for a limited CRD either new or low-milage used.

I found one at a dealer with less than 200 miles which is a 2005 model (April '05 manufacture, I think.) Here are the stats:

- limited CRD package
- Silver with Grey leather
- factory sunroof
- heated seats
- towing package
- sirius radio & 6 disk in-dash stereo

The price before tax will end up being 25.5 k (before tax and after all rebates, etc)

Is this a good price considering the options, the fact that it's an 05, and that the thing has less than one tank of fuel on the odometer?

Thanks.
Dan

Sounds like my KJ.........given the fact that the '05 model year has 3/36 bumper to bumper and 7/70 powertrain, I'd jump all over it. The '06 only has 3/36 bumper to bumper.
My 2005 Liberty Limited CRD MSRP'd for $30,325 and invoice was $28,609. My only question is why did it sit so long unsold or dealer-traded ?

Sometimes they just don't have something anyone wants, it may be due to color, options or what ever. Sometimes dealers wait till it's too late and don't want to lose money on a dealer trade. Case in point with local dealer not dealer trading his Magnums, and buying or dealer trading for them when he can. Just like his new '04 Viper that he refused to deeler trade on till too late and he has got eaten up by floor planning.

Thats a pretty good price. The 7/70 warranty is nice too. Might be a last years model, but its still new.

The only reason my wife and I can figure is that it's a limited diesel with a lot of options and many folks would want a diesel, or a limited, but not both. It has literally 175 miles on it and the sales mgr said they've had it for about 9 months (and it's the last 05 CRD in stock). Frankly we both loved the vehicle when we test-drove it. Just trying to make sure the price is right.

If they have had it 9 months offer them less all they can do is say no. They just need to move it on and they probably don't have a big demand for the CRD.

Carmax in Orlando FL and Atlanta GA are selling their left over 2005 CRDs for over $7,000 below sticker. If your deal is not that good, go to one of those two new vehichle Carmax sites.

I would say that the price is right for an 05, mine is an 06 with a few more options and list for 31K.

FWIW, in last Saturdays paper had a couple jeep stealers advertising their ENTIRE stock of 06's for $5,000 off MSRP. (they did not list any exclusions, but who knows LOL) I would assume you should be able to do at least a grand or two better for an 05. Sounds like the stealer was holding out for top dollar and it backfired with regards to having it for so long.

I have heard of people buying them for less than 25.5K, but personally I still feel like that is a good price.

My Jeep is identical to the one in question...except mine is a Sport and the one you are looking at is a Limited. The longer warranty will offset the fact that it's a model year old now in my opinion. Mine was also built April 2005 and I have had none of the EGR, etc. problems the others here have had.

I paid 25.5K for mine. If I could do it all over again and get a Limited for the same price, I'd jump all over that deal.

If you really want a Jeep with a diesel engine...I say definitely go for it. You will LOVE it and the longer warranty will cover you.

Thanks for that never though I'd like Carmax, but the prices appear good. In Atlanta (near me), the following:
SN 2928525: $22,339

That's a model similar to what I was looking at with the base "F" package and no tow group or sirius.

Based on the Jeep, configurator:
2005 limited F +CRD MSRP: 26,960
2005 limited G +CRD MSRP: 28,135

So, that G package on the CRD limited adds about $1175 to the MSRP.

The tow group is $365 MSRP and the Sirius is $195

So, all things considered, I should expect to pay about $1760 morre ( a little less if you consider that it's MSRP) for the one I found at a dealer VS. the similar, but lesser one at carmax, however, that dealer is asking about 3 grand more than carmax. That gives me a little bit of wiggle room to save a few dollars or ask for a few more "throw-ins" from the dealer.
