I just got a recall notice for rear lower control arms. Anybody else? I moved from the east coast I wonder if there is a difference? |

Nope no difference I believe it only applies to where your liberty original came from and what year it is. |

Called local dealer here in Washington and they have parts in stock and made an appointment for Monday. BTW he said it is L27 not L28. |

I brought mine up from Florida (Ohio now) and I just had mine done without a hitch. I will try to find the pictures from my (modified) OBDII port to prevent any other upgrades. |

Got a notification in the mail for this recall as well. Plan to do it in the next week or two. Any signs/symptoms that would show the control arms are starting to go bad or malfunction? |

While they can break, from the pictures I've seen the rust is rather obvious. |

They rust from the inside out and it's not easy to see |

The new control arms are definitely beefier. Just another cost cutting part that bit Chrysler again. Save $5 per vehicle in development and spend $100 per vehicle in warranty costs. They have an institutional problem understanding the benefits of designing hardware correctly the first time. |

That institutional problem is not limited to DCJ or even to the automotive industry. The nickel/dime cost corner cutting shows up in a host of products. I'm particularly fond of aluminum or galvanized boat trailers with zinc plated bolts for use in salt water. The list of products that would be vastly improved by the expenditure of well under 1% of the product cost during the manufacturing phase is virtually endless. |

I'm on a call list due to a national back order. The dealer said they had done over a hundred already. Based on my recall notice, it looks like it's based on vin. number & production year. |

I'm going to have mine done at the same time as the timing belt. Are there any services that can be done during the recall that will save me money? I'm thinking about new shocks and if they need to take the rear apart anyway I'm wondering if it will save me a little in labor cost. |

Most service centers will mess you up if try to incorporate to much into one service call. And why replace your shocks with stock hardware you can save money with and upgrade. OME is cheaper then stock and will last longer and ride better. |

They are rationing out the recall, it will come up or the Lawyers will have another gravy train. With all the money that will be going out to fix the crappy Pentastar 3.6L V6 gassers that are cracking heads at 20K and law suits for denied warranty coverage on the Pentastar V6, Chrysler will be dragging their butts as long as they can get away with on replacing the KJ rear lower control arms. Since my local dealer is an Idiot, I will need to put a lock on my OBDII port to keep him from hooking up and screwing anything up. Yup, I know there is no reason to hook up to the OBDII port for a rear lower control arm recall, but like I said, my local dealer is an Idiot. |

(still involves head replacement though) Whats the story on denied warrenty? |
