I put in the 7v metal replacements papaindigo mentions. No issues thus far but they've only been in there a couple months and haven't seen any cold weather yet. See the part number in my signature.

GX3123 as far as I know but you can shot them an email to confirm.

I have run the Etecno glow plugs since the pilot trial and have not had a single issue, they are a great drop in replacement.

They weren't hard to replace except for number three. They work great. Part number in my signature.

Three is a big pain in the booty, seriously.

If you're doing all four of them you'll probably need to remove the intake elbow (that's how I did it). If you do this you'll need the gasket to put the elbow back together. The intake elbow part number I used was 5066946AA.

Good luck. It's PITA getting things out of the way, but the plugs are easy once you get at them. YMMV, but after I took my ceramics out I banged them on all kinds of stuff and they don't break as easily as I had expected. I treated them pretty gingerly taking them out though.

I have one going bad as well. Can I just put one oem ceramic back in. Mopar online parts has them

I've had to replace #3 two times now. For some reason it is cursed and so is my luck. No. 3 is already showing higher resistance than the others but as long as I plug in the block heater when it is below 32 deg F, I have no problem starting it in the winter. If I don't plug in the block heater then my starts are a little rougher but haven't gotten stuck yet.

The Plugs in my signature are the way to go. Yeah you have to wait a couple more days to get them, but at like $40 a piece to get them, they're definitely worth it and NOT CERAMIC.

Chrysler discontinued the 7V ceramic Glow plugs because Bosch quit making them. Chrysler came up with a 5 volt excuse that requires a re-flash.

They quit making them, but they're still available for purchase. Local Chrysler dealership wanted $210 a piece for the old 7v ones, or you could buy the "KIT" with all 4 of them for around $200 (Makes sense right? )

Etecnu are the way to go.

If you really wanted the 7v Ceramic plugs, send me a PM. I still have 5 of them in perfect condition. I pulled four of them when I installed the Etechno set during the trial. Haven't had any issues with them at all, they seem to be identical to the ceramic plugs.

I guess I could sell the ceramic plugs for the same price, plus Priority Mail shipping.

I have a large collection of parts from my CRD, I don't throw out anything unless it is completely trashed. Consider it a lesson learned about orphan vehicles - you can never have too many spares, even questionable sensors might be useful in diagnosing a potential problem for free, rather than ponying up for a new sensor that maybe you didn't need (which is how the spare sensor came to be)

Do we have a feeling about how the Etecno's are faring up in climates where they get fully exercised. For sure they are probably fine in Florida and Australia but what about areas where sub-zero temperatures are regularly recorded.

I seem to recall some posts indicating our resident experts had some reservations about these versus the Chrysler solution but I think it may have been a bit of hearsay with no solid reasoning.

I guess I have not spent enough time on here regarding the glow plugs so I missed the fact that someone came up with a direct replacement. I will tell you that I had the MOPAR kit put in this spring by the dealer when I had them replace the timing belt and a few other chores like the water pump. The replacements do not do as good a cold start job as the ceramics did. It seems to me that on cold mornings it didn't start any better than is did with two dead ceramics. I hope these replacements fare better for everyone.

My original ceramics are still doing fine and I plan to keep them in untill there is an issue or maybe have them changed when I get the timing belt done. I am not sure which way is best to go the 5v Chrysler or the 7v aftermarket, Being In Pennsylvania where we can have cold winters I don't want ones that can't get the engine to fire as good as now. I would like to know what others think of both types before I decide.

No question for me on that one - STAY AWAY from the dealer-supplied 5v ceramics. THEY SUCK.

The Etecno 7v metal plugs are a great replacement. Granted, Savannah didn't get much of a winter this year, but I haven't noticed a single issue with the plugs, the CRD always starts the same.

I still have 4 of the old 7v ceramics if anyone is interested in them.
