I cant seem to find out whats causing this code. It idles fine when cold but as soon as it gets up to operating temp it idles rough, but drives fine. I swapped the number 2 and 3 injector and code stayed with the number 3 cylinder. I just replaced the glow plugs cause number 3 was cracked, changed timing belt and deleted egr.

You sure your Kerma tuner is not causing the problem?

I cannot find the P0303 code in my 2002 DTCs and the 2006 DTCs only states that it is a misfire for cylinder 3 with advice on what to do for the 3.7 gasser but nothing for the CRD.

How have you extracted that code? :?

If you look in the 2006FSM (05 FSM lacks code info) that's linked on Sir Sam's NOOB site on pg 9-895 you will find P0303 listed as a valid diesel code but it's still misfire on cylinder 3. Don't know if the diagnostics will help.

Were any of your old ceramic glow plugs missing their ends when you changed them out?

Bad news if so....

No luckily, number 3 just had a crack in it

If it were my engine and I was trouble shooting it, I would probably say that it's either a bad/clogged injector at this point, or an issue with the ECU programming.

Stupid question I suppose but how is a misfire detected on a CRD?
There are not any knock detectors....I presume it is the monitoring of the individual fuel injectors' current flow. :?

Maybe you should try swapping injector 3 again...this time with number 1.

I know from my 34 years in fixing mainframe computers and industrial robots I would sometimes take out Part A and put it aside. Then I take out Part B and put it next to Part A. Then I get distracted and pick up the parts in the wrong order and put them back in their original positions but think that I have swapped them over.

At least I can own up to this now....I am retired and can not be fired.

Just saying. If you are sure you did not such a dumb thing then please ignore this advise. :)

Could be a wiring or connector problem....try measure the injectors leads all the way to the ECU. :?

i numbered them before i removed them so i know i got them swapped correctly. i guess ill start chasing wires and see if i can find bad spot.
