Do you have a stock fuel system, or have you added a fuel pump yet?

Some just can't get rid of the air-in-fuel problems until they switch to a pressurized fuel system.

There's also a device at the end of the fuel rail that releases pressure when it exceeds the max (28k psi or so). If either that valve or an injector is leaking even a little you won't be able to reach sufficient pressure during cranking to let the ECM actually fire the injectors. For the Cummins diesels my fuzzy recollection is that it needed about 4,000PSI before the ECM wouldtrigger the injectors and start the engine.

If you can get someone with a DRBIII you may be able to watch the pressure during cranking to see if it's sufficient.

ok i just tried something to test the fuel pressure solenoid/ pcv i got the engine hot disconnected the small fuel return line then cranked the engine and fuel came out suggesting the valve is not shutting dose this sound correct ?the test suggests that the valve should stay shut until the pressure builds up til the injectors fire then it opens letting excess fuel return to tank. :?

I think you'll need to find diagnostic procedures to be sure.. from reading this, some flow can be normal: http://goo.gl/7ditv

Note though, if it's taken off the rail and FPR must be replaced as a unit. You cannot re-install, as the knife-edge that seals and the seat form to each other (once only).

You need to extract some OBDII codes to find out what it is complaining about. Either get the dealers to read/clear the codes or try the 4 times ON/OFF trick of the ignition.

Once you have some codes you will narrow down the search. :?

Post subject:  Re: crank sensor

turns out it was a bad injector leaking fuel back. i found this by getting 4 small clear bottles and attaching a tube to each then fixing each tube to the small return on the top of each injector i fixed the bottles to a piece of wood above the engine i then cranked the engine over and found that one bottle was filling up way before the other three . they are not to let anything out until the engine starts .anyway had the injector overhauled and now the car is fine :P
