Have a Jeep now wrangler rubicon TJ with a lot done. Love it but it's just horrible on fuel. May sell and get something I can actually go on highway with and get over 15 mpg. I do a lot of highway drives for fun, mountain biking, and winter trips so 4wd is a great thing. I do have an F250 that I try to let stay nice and clean and low miles and not daily drive it. So with that said 6 or so months ago I had purchased a 2005 CRD Limited for my girlfriend. Had 85k miles. I then had done just about every mod the forums suggested. All bypasses. Deletes. GDE Eco tune and Old man emu suspension nice set of steel wheels and BFG at's. Cool rig I did like it. Mainly we sold it cause it was just so small. It got annoying almost but I for some reason wish I never sold so I had kept for myself. I didn't mind it as much for all I would use it. I sold to friend. Good kid, got for his girlfriend, they only have 102k miles on it (had 95 or so when I sold it). He is thinking of selling and I can't help but want it knowing timing belts done correct, every pulley and gasket an thermostat. Suspension all that fun stuff. It's sharp. So my guest ion is should I trust this thing has another 100k miles left in it without to many issues? Doubt I'll go that long with it but nice to trust.

Only reason I ask is I'm considering a Subaru. Perhaps a 2008+ year Impreza hatchback. Mainly awd is nice and they are sporty feeling good MPg and could pick one up almost even priced for what I can sell my wrangler for.

Kid is asking 13,500 for the liberty and I figure I could try to shoot for 13 or so.

Whenever I consider getting a different vehicle, I have to consider that my wife may occasionally
need to drive it. So therefore, it has to be an automatic.

However, if my wife could drive a stick shift, I would have an Impreza.

Not that there is anything wrong with the CRD. Its just not an Impreza.

I say go for the Impreza. :)

My 2006 CRD has 217,000 miles on it and I just did an ECO tune last week. I did the timing belt at about 140,000, os it is getting to be time to do it again.

Original EGR Valve
Swapped generator decoupler once, swappped whole alternator the second time, but I think the alternator is still good, just the decoupler failed.
Original water pump

Is the Impreza the one that looks like it was designed by Homer Simpson with the ridiculous hood scoop and rear spoiler?

If you're going to pit a CRD against another vehicle, at least choose something in the same class. Maybe a Mercedes ML diesel.
