I use the K&N, also keep a spare paper type to put in during cleaning the k&N @ each oil change. They provide more air and you only have to purchace one ever. |

They also let more dirt pass which is real bad for your turbo. Stick to the stock paper filter, it's much better for your engine. |

My history with several diesel engines over 30 years is that diesel engines air filters get dirty quicker. Turbo Diesel engines pull more airflow across the filter. The K&N may not clean as effective as some other filters. But will add more performance and fuel mileage. In my CRD jeep when the paper filter started to get dirty even my transmission shifted badly. Yet...we all have choices. This is only mine, Make yours. |

I use an AFE oiled filter. It appears that they have 3 models now including some that are not oiled . have 218,000 miles on my 2006 CRD. John. |

Are you the original owner? What oil have you been using and at what intervals? What modifictions have you been running? |

Napa Gold. The construction and quality of pleating are comparable to the Amsoil, but it's disposable, so you don't have to worry about cleaning (or paying the premium). Not as green, but for the dirtiest portion of the intake path, I don't mind a fresh one evert 6250 miles... Dan |

Another NAPA gold user here. I noticed there's a large difference in name brand air filters. Compare the number of pleats in a Pure-1 air filter and others to a NAPA gold filter and some others too. You'll quickly notice the difference. I've counted pleats on various brands and it seems they all are either one number of pleats or the other. I don't recall the numbers right now but the difference is easy to spot Pleat count is directly propotional to surface area of the filter media I too change air filters every oil change but the NAPA/WIX is not nearly as black as the Pure-1 filters I used to use

Wow that stinks. I been using my Amsoil air filter for about 3 years just vacuuming it each oil change. not sure how much longer its good good for. how long do others use theirs? mine has about 40,000 miles on it and looked kinda dirty last time. How much is a NAPA Gold filter going for? good thing is I do get a AAA discount on most items except fluids at NAPA. |

Chuckle - the NAPA Gold air filter is identical to the WIX 42329. Same part # minus the 1st digit (typical for Wix rebranded to NAPA product) and, if you look closely, the online NAPA picture has even been clipped from the WIX online filter picture. |

I contacted the AMSOIL Tech Service who responded with the following message:Thanks. "The EaA201 has been discontinued due to low sales volume. Please use the Wix 42629." which was disappointing. |

Warp, Is it a flat panel, or does it protrude down into the airbox? |

Agreed, but I think it's even worse for us as I believe our air intake is in a bad position for picking up that extra bit of road crud. Yes, yet another stellar design choice from our friends at Chrysler |

The AFE ProGuard 7 is built similar to K&N with the HUGE exception that it has several layers of cloth gauze. Each layer of gauze has increased thread counts whereas the K&N has only one density material. Much better filtering on a reusable platform. |
