| Post subject: | Moab rim Questions? |
As the title states, I have several questions for the Guru's out there about the Moab rims. I have been lurking around locally (to me) looking for a nice set of "smooth faced" 16 inch moab rims for my jeep. 1. How can you tell whether they are authentic and not a knock off? (What should I look for) 2. I believe there are different sizes 16x7 and 16x8. Is that correct? 3. If #2 is correct which one is better, or more suitable? 4. Would I be able to place tpms sensors on these rims in order for the overhead console to operate properly? If so which tpms do I need? I apologize if this has already been asked and answered. Tried looking around and couldn't find the answers I was looking for. Thanks in advance, any impute advise is greatly appreciated. Tony |

W/r/t #1, cant help you. #2, depends on what backspacing you want, search "moabs" and "backspacing". #3, depends, see posts retrieved from #2, above. #4, stock TPMS sensors work fine. You want the domestic frequency, 315 MHz. I just R&Red the ones from the stock wheels and they fit and worked fine. See viewtopic.php?f=8&t=34893 |

1-will have chrysler part # stamped on backside,if they say made in china there not the MOAB's you want if want the real things.Only '03-'06 TJ MOAB rims work on a KJ,JK MOAB's(made in china) require a adpater since there a different bolt pattern. 2-The TJ MOAB's(correct bolt pattern,4.5 on 5) are 16x8 with 5" of back spacing, the JK MOAB's are 17x8 with 5" of back spacing(5 on 5 bolt pattern). 3-only one back spacing and width 4-You can use your current sensors in those rims. |

On item #4 I am not sure how the aftermarket replacements compare to the factory original TPMS units, but be careful with the aftermarkets as I am having difficulty getting the ones I bought to completely seal with the Moab wheels. I bought a set of Standard Brand TPM-17 sensors (metal stem version w/ rubber seal) that are a direct cross with the '06 Liberty's and had them installed in my Moab wheels, now I am having nothing but problems with them leaking at the seals. I have even had the local Discount Tire try and rebuild them and still the same problem. As a test Discount Tire tried a a newer rubber style snap-in sensor which seems to have no issue with sealing. I would like to know what different brand and model of sensors that have been successfully used by others on their Moab wheels as I need to figure out what to do about my leaking ones. |

Recently purchased these, looking forward to installing them after the lift. After an almost eleven hour drive each way. |
