29 spline.

You must get a axle shaft for a '05 KJ,'06's use a different axle shaft but still the same 29 spline 8.25.There are about 7 different 8.25 axle shafts that are 29 spline but only 1 works in the '05 KJ.

Yukon makes a HD axle for the '02-'05 KJ's 8.25,they are not chromo axles but one step above stock material.Otherwise the local dealership is where you need to go for a brand new one, could try a junkyard for a used one out of a '02-'05 KJ.Just be aware some '02 KJ's did come with the D35 rear diff also(rounded center section).

I'd suggest replacing the bearing and seal while your at it.You also will need a few qts of your favorite gear oil and some RTV as the diff cover must be removed to get the center pin out thus allowing the axle shaft to be pushed in and get at the c-clip.

Most parts stores will rent you the slide hammer and axle bearing adapters to remove to old bearing.

Pic of the slide hammer adapters to remove the bearings.............

Of course you will need a slide hammer also.

Hey, I posted in your other thread back in June.

Here is my post viewtopic.php?f=1&t=69046

It is extremely easy to swap it out.

Here is the tool I borrowed from AutoZone. (Looks like the same one from Harbor Freight)
Autozone will also let you borrow the slide hammer, all for free, just have to put a deposit down.

Also pictured is a new Timken Bearing (Timken PN 6408) from AutoZone, it was $12.99.

Timken's website has all the part numbers you need.

Good luck buddy.

No worries, I'm sooooo slow as well. It took me about 8 months to fix my issue, lol.
