I recently had problems with my CRD. It was shaking, blowing smoke and had lost power. I restarted it and it ran fine. When I took it to a dealership the pulled codes on it and the code that came up was P0299. Has this ever happend to anyone? |

Yes... Not to be mean, but in the upper-right quadrant you'll see a series of icons labeled FAQ, Search, Members, and User Control Panel. Click search and type P0299 in the 'Search for keywords' box, then press enter. In the results, besides your post, there are quite a few which list P0299. It appears to be 'low boost', and can be caused by a number of things (listed in the posts) such as hoses, sensors, and vacuum lines. If you can post your mileage and any recent changes or observations of odd behavior/noise (additional to your O.P.) it'll help the other folks help you narrow it down. Good luck, Mark |

Could be one of the following although hard to find when not "doing" the smoking thing: 1. intercooler hoses - pull off and remove OEM mesh cover is on them. Inspect outside of vehicle for tears/holes/soggy with oil. If any such symptoms found replace with Samco's; needs doing anyway if you have not already done so. While turbo side intercooler hose if off look for tear in airbox to turbo hose on bottom just in front of turbo; replace as needed/dealer item cost ca. $60. Also check turbo wheel for any play while there 2. possible vacuum leak to from turbo vane actuator vacuum canister (tower looking thing behind air box). Check for loose vacuum hose or possible melted hose behind/under coolant tank. May need to pull coolant tank; if so there is one obvious hose that needs to be rerouted so you can pull tank without draining then undo firewall bolts and slide tank forward off metal support before pulling up (you can just rest tank on support upon reinstall. Be mindful of wiring to low coolant sensor on bottom of tank. 3. sticky boost pressure solenoid. If it does this again then before shutting off try the bypass posted at viewtopic.php?f=5&t=70602&p=757348&hilit=boost+solenoid#p757348 |
