What are my options to clear a P0401 long enough to pass inspection? I can do it with an obdii reader, but it comes back when the car has been on for a few minutes. This probably won't work. - Will taking the EGR out and giving it a good cleaning fix it for a few days? - Will putting in a bypass plate clear it? - I understand the GDE tune will do it, but I don't have $500 right now - Other options? Thanks, |

Options: 1. costs money - SEGR, GDE tune (better than SEGR) 2. unplug MAF but unfortunately that throws a CEL light so this won't appear to help you 3. cost your time - viewtopic.php?f=5&t=59352&p=659410#p659410 I'd recommend #3 above in the short term and a concerted effort to save your $s for the GDE tune. |

Thank you. I think that's going to be the short-term answer. Maybe after inspection, I'll unplug the MAF. Later, get the GDE tune. |

There's more to it then turning off the CEL There's something called "readiness code" that needs several drive cycles to be met ![]() Here's as a good write about what NY City requires of Taxi Cabs. http://www.nyc.gov/html/tlc/downloads/p ... _sheet.pdf |

I have the FCV and the EGR off the Jeep. The EGR doesn't look too bad, but maybe I don't know what I'm looking for. However, the exhaust inlet on the FCV and its tube are caked with soot. Like, almost 100% clogged. Would THIS throw a P0401? I want to clean these items thoroughly before they go back in. I read in a post to make sure that the EGR's valves move. I don't see any valves. Anyone have a picture of what I should be looking at? It just looks like a lump of metal right now. Thanks! |
