Do I have to remove the radiator/shroud/fan to get the cooler out?

Could a crack near the top mist engine oil forward and over the top of the shroud?

Yes you need to remove it. See my timing belt writeup as well as videos for hints on how to do it.

You would need to be misting a lot of oil for that to happen, pics of your engine bay?

Too late for pics. I have already wiped it all down. Something has been leaking for a long time, I just noticed it when the shroud started getting oily on top. The condenser is clogged at the top with dirt and oil. There is no oil on the inside of the shroud, radiator or front of the engine. Just the area behind the hood latch and electric fan. Could it be the trans cooler leaking? There is no dripping under the vehicle.

The stock cooler is at the bottom, more likely to be the usual crack near the top hose neck where it joins the aluminium.
