Hello my name is John I picked up a 2006 black crd "sport" a few week's ago after my 2003 Ford 6.0 blew apart...It has been cold the last few week's here in NY and I was wondering why my glow plug light on the dash never stay's on? it comes on for 2 secound's and shuts off ( about 15-25 degree's latley) also I would like to do the V6 airbox swap but was wondering what do I do about the sensor on the under side of it???????????

that's normal for the glowplug to come on for a few seconds to heat up and then your able to start.

Use the block heater, wrapped around the oil dipstick, for easier starts.

I don't think the airbox helps that much, the turbo can only suck in so much anyway, heating it up then going through the intercooler. IMO, though

Welcome. check your timing belt etc..

The airbox to turbo hose is a dealer only item, should run ca. $65 or so. See my install comments at viewtopic.php?f=5&t=60636&p=769839&hilit=turbo#p769839

If you have not already done so read Sam's NOOB guide. Based on that give us a hint as to what "little sensor" you are referring too.

There is lots of discussion at viewtopic.php?f=98&t=21828 about the gasser air box. As I understand it the main advantage is relocation of the air intake from low behind the grill to higher just under the hood. Some folks report/think this helps keep water out of the air box. Personally I've never had a water in the air box problem even driving in near blinding rain.

The V6 box has kept my air box noticeably cleaner, no debris and such.

Welcome to the forum, blackDiesel. If you like diesels, you will love this forum. Sorry to hear about your 6 liter.

Regarding the standard air box, I can tell you that my air filter gets wet every time I drive it in the rain. But I am not sure it is that big of a deal. I put a Filter-minder on (like your Ford had), and the wetness does not seem to increase the back-pressure any.

By the way, it has to get really cold for the glow plug lamp to stay on more than a few seconds. In the summer time it will be on and off so quickly that you will often not even notice it.

FYI - the sensor on the top of the airbox can be ignored - that's called the ORM - and the Jeep'll run better but will set a CEL
sensor on the right side - should not be ignored unless you can get a GDE tune - it will affect performance.

any Mopar parts place can get them (although I think the label was confusing)
also the hose air box to turbo is Mopar parts or dealership.
