I was on my way home from a 275 mile work day, and noticed I was low on power and that I had black smoke when I gave it throttle. I pulled over and scanned the codes (I keep a scanner to clear the CEL on longer trips from the ORM), and came up with P0299 and P1252. If I clear the code, it immediately, within 1/2 a second, the CEL pops back on indicating an electrical device is INOP. The P1252 is the one that won't go away. My research shows there are two solenoids that could be the issue... 52109543AA or 4606226AC. Anyone have any clue which one has failed? |

I had a brainstorm... I just went out and unplugged the 4606226AC and cleared the CEL... it stayed out. I am assuming this is the solenoid in which has failed. I also bypassed that solenoid (as others have mentioned on here) and I have boost again. I can hear the turbo whistle as normal. Is there any harm in running it bypassed temporarily until my new solenoid arrives? |

No harm at all running it bypassed although with driving I'd expect the CEL to come back until the solenoid is replaced. Per GDE "The only benefit that part provides is overnight storage of vacuum in the plastic reservoir so the turbo has vacuum immediately during the start. Without it you have a 2-10 second wait before the engine vacuum pump evacs the lines enough for the turbo vanes to move." |

I found a solenoid at a dealer, and I will be by there tomorrow anyhow. Hopefully that will fix that problem... until the next one occurs that is. |

Fixed. Replaced the 4606226AC which I picked up at a dealer while in DE for the past several days, and the code cleared, and all was well. Problem solved (for now anyhow...) |
