Our 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD with about 59,000 miles has had cold starting issues after having the ceramic glow plugs replaced with metal ones. Skipping all the other gory details of the all the other tests run relating to a real air in fuel issue, we came to a point where the dealership tested pressure. Pressure was zero when key was on but engine was off. Fuel pressure set point was 8,568 psi and while cranking, the pressure tested 8,334 psi. "Star" which I assume was Chrysler, "advised a possible high pressure issue". Is a difference in 234 psi enough to suspect a high pressure fuel issue? This is a difference of slightly less than 3%

Appreciate any advice, I am new to Diesel problems.

Regards, GrampyS

If Keith from Green Diesel doesn't get to you, drop him a line. He will probably know most on fuel rail pressure.

You do not have a fuel pressure issue. The worse starting is because of the 5 volt glow plugs. They are not as "hot" as the stock ceramics.

Thanks for your replies, after reading everything, I think I have two problems, metal glow plugs and occasionally air in fuel with a leak on the low pressure side.
