Alright, my stupid TPMS sensor won't stop flashing at me intermittantly. I have ordered 4 new TPMS sensors for inside the tires since they were only $24 each, and I'll have the local tire place put them in as they rotate my tires next weekend.

I figured the TPMS sensors in it are 7 years old and batteries are probably going, I know the spare is brand new because I replaced it when someone stole my spare (Thanks Nashville).

Anyways, if the 4 new sensors doesn't fix the issue, anyone know where the receivers are? Just trying to plan ahead.

I believe there are sensors just inside the wheel well liner on the fronts (close to the side markets beneath the bumper skins), but I might be misidentifying the component. Intermittent issues could be a result of water or excessive dirt up in that area, I imagine...done any really wet or dirty offroading recently?

DESCRIPTION - PREMIUM SYSTEM
A transponder is located in three of the four wheel wells of the vehicle to provide the WCM/SKREEM with the location of the tire pressure sensors on the vehicle. The transponders are located in the left front, right front and right rear wheel wells. A fourth transponder is not necessary in the remaining wheel well due to the process-of-elimination theory. Once the system knows the location of the first three sensors it assumes the location of the fourth tire pressure sensor is in the left rear tire.

FSM notwithstanding the TPMS sensors do not need any "external" (like a magnet) programming to work. Just install and drive normally for like a mile or two and the system will "learn" the new sensors. Battery life ranges from 5-12 years with 7 being about average. My OEM originals are still fine as of today with a build date of 7/05, no clue how long they sat in stock before that build date, on the other hand stoutdog lost 1 of his about this time last year with a build date of 2/06 so I'm going on 7.75 yrs but he lost one at 6 yrs.

I debated replacement when I got new tires back in Sept 2011 but decided to chance it. Install should be about $10 as all it involves is popping the tire off the rim; remove old TPMS sensor; install new sensor; reinstall and reinflate tire which is not much different in labor time than a balance job.

Me and another member were not able to get a Dornon sensor to work, maybe the OE ones connect OK, but not the after-market?

stoutdog, at least, got the Dorman and it worked, still does, just fine after a short drive.

I replaced the one in the spare, it did not connect in that position, and did not connect when I moved it to the front right. So I repaired the sensor from my spare that I broke with a soldering iron, and now all is good. Maybe the new sensors were bad? We will never know through trial and error, but the other guy said the dealer was able to make the dorman connect?

The one in my spare is a Dorman that I ordered when I got a new Rim/Tire to replace the one that was stolen.

It has worked without issue until this stupid TPMS sensor started flashing, I don't believe it's the Dorman in the spare, but one of the others.

I just had two sensors added to the Moab wheels I put on the jeep (only put two on as I was only replacing two tires at this point). After the 10 mile drive home they are not registering on the EVIC readout, do the sensors need to be programmed to work with the EVIC? The remaining 3 Moab wheels do not have any sensors in them currently.

I would think you need them in all 5 tires to put the system in sync considering it monitors them all? And maybe you do need to get them programmed, I decided to repair my broken TPMS so I am sure, but according to Hexus, he had to go to the dealer.

The TPMS sensors calibrate on their own.

After a phone call to the dealer, you need all 5 of them for the reading to display on the overhead display.

Did you have to go to the dealer, or did you just have a tire shop install them? I had 5 Dormans installed a week ago. They did several different light configurations (solid, intermittent, etc.), but never seemed to have self-learned and just go OFF. I also have an aftermarket tire (Yoko Geolander AT/S LT225/75R16) that has a higher max sidewall of 65, which I was running at 50. I reduced that to 45 last night and went for a 30 mile drive. The light went from intermittent every 10 minutes to solid and just stayed that way. I don't have an overhead EVIC so I can't see a specific error or pressure reading.

1) Hexus, did you go to a dealer to get yours to be recognized?
2) Anyone know what the stock sensor configuration is set at and whether having a tire pressure over 33? 44? psi will give an error? What is the max set at?

I know the dealer can reprogram with different max/min numbers, but I'm just trying to figure out if there is something wrong with my sensors or if I'm just hitting the limits. I don't want to drive much with my 65psi sidewall tires at 33 to find out.

I had a tire service place install them, but they're self-syncronizing, so I did not calibrate them or anything they self-recognized and the problem went away.
