I've noticed some comments saying lift pump mandatory on the KJ CRD . Mine is running great with GDE hot tune , upgraded TC, something like the provent on it . What difference will the lift pump make . Quicker cold starts with the fuel line under pressure??

IMHO a lift pump (in line or in tank) is not mandatory. That said if you have constant air in the fuel problems AND have the 2n gen fuel filter head then a lift pump is one fix. Some say the engine runs smoother with a lift pump; I don't know as a 2n gen filter head cured my air in fuel problems and I've yet to install the Facet in line pump that's on my shelf waiting.

Thanks for your input . The PO installed a 2nd gen fuel head just before he sold it to me . So far so good . Just wondering as I notice a fair bit of cranking on cold start in comparison to my 09 jetta tdi and 500 hp Caterpilar!!

Prolonged CP3 life, easier starts, less lag from a stop, avoids issue of air entering fuel system thru some of the fittings that can occur when suction is main force of fuel movement instead of pressure.

Not mandatory but a very good addition.

Some, myself included, believe the original fuel heads failed because they were full of air. My 06 had air in fuel symptoms since day one and will be 7 years old in May and still has the original fuel head. But I've had a lift pump before it was a year old :-)r
First the Faucet under the hood to verify the problem and then a Dodge/Cummins in tank lift pump.

:2cents:
