I had a water pump go....lost timing either as water pump went or as reassembling anyway now have the timing lockout kit and have pinned out crank shaft and both cams. Is it in time if the cam shaft notches are alighned as in the pic from papindigo? Pic can be seen in CRD TECH ONLY engine pictures.....Thanks fro any replies

Both cams with the pins in it, and the crank pin in also. Crank marker should be at 3 o'clock position. Also make sure the injector pump marker is right on with its witness mark, its just under the bolt at around the 9 o'clock position.

If all this checks ot, you should be in time.

Thanks for the reply put belt on and ran engine seems to start better than before. I need to install fan etc and test drive.
It would run before but smoked with no power (same symptoms as my 6.9 diesel when it is out of time). It would crank a bit before starting starts right up now as it did before this episode. I was dreading pulling the valve covers if it did not run, from reading post on here sounds like a nightmare to get everything lined up and valve covers bolted back on.
Again thanks for the conformation on the timing marks. I did consider having the cam gears machined and keying them to the slots already in the shafts, but already spent the money on the pin out kit for timing so will continue this way.
Thanks again.
