Last couple of days I've had the (CEL) tripped, and reset. Code comes up as P1252. I get loss of power, and black smoke out the tail pipe under WOT. Checked the DTC list and found "P1252-VACUUM RESERVOIR SOLENOID SHORT CIRCUIT " Any idea's where to start looking?
Thanks Tony

Im pretty sure there is already a thread on this if you search. i believe its an easy its an easy fix and a cheap part. The part is called Solenoid, secondary runner valve Mopar Part # 4606226AC should run around $30. I had this code on my '06 and was researching the fix and the light went off and hasnt returned. I didnt notice any performance issues when it occurred on mine.

Thank you both for the information.

Update, the loss of power/black smoke is only noticeable during hard acceleration (WOT). During normal acceleration the loss of power/black smoke is barely noticeable, however the (CEL) is on and clues you in that something isn't working right.

My local Napa store, and two local dealerships didn't have it in stock.

http://www.moparpartsamerica.com/ parts are on order.
4606226AC emission system, emission components, solenoid 2.8 LITER DIESEL $32.04
5080374AA emission system, emission components, filter 2.8 LITER DIESEL $8.10

Will update once installed.

Find the vacuum supply line on the failed evm and remove it. Install the vac supply directly to the "vac" port on the evm with blue rubber mount isolator. This should stop the smoke issues. Hopefully the turbo vanes are not sooted up much. Let us know if that helps in the meantime.

GDE Thank you.

Followed Papaindigo's link in this post to re-route the vacuum lines as suggested.
Power is back, black smoke is gone. Additionally, noticed that the A/C (in the recycle setting) appears to push significantly more air through the vents. I think that the A/C is now properly opening/closing the vent doors via the new vacuum. Maybe, I'm just imagining this?

The CEL still returns as P1252 shortly after clearing it.

I will keep the vacuum lines temporarily this way until I get the parts in.
Thanks Tony

Parts were replaced, problem is solved. Probably could have fixed it with out replacing the filter but since it hasn't been replaced figured that now is a good time.

Thanks again to everyone, the "Lostjeeps" family once again sharing information and solving issues with the jeep.

Hi Guys. Just wanted to let you all know, this part cross references for s few years of the Chrysler 300..so it's readily available used at the salvage yard. After a little research, the part was $46 at the dealership, which wanted me to come in or fax them my credit card (who has a fax machine) they wouldn't accept an emailed scan??? So , on my first of 2 trips I was going to have to make there, one 2 pay, one to pick up, I passed a salvage place 1 mile before the dealer. After a short walk, I remembered that FleaBay had the part listed on the Chrysler 300, and I found almost complete donor car quickly. I pulled it, bought it for $16, and installed it. 4606226AC was on a 2000 model year Chysler 300, which exists fairly often in the salvage market.

Thanks to GDE and this forum's members for saving me $30.

All,

I thank the group for solving my P1252 engine code.
Searching the forum and finding the 4606226AC vacuum solenoid as a possible cause, saved me a service bill.
About $45 bucks, and I am good to go again.

Thanks to the contributors of the forum.
