My lights are starting to flicker again at certain RPMs and they go dim for a few seconds whenever I let off of the throttle.
The last clutch pulley lasted a little over 60,000 miles. It was an OEM from Mopar Parts Online.
This time I'm going to do the two piece mod to the fan shroud, I'm not fighting that $%^&* thing anymore.

I had an AC Delco in Cincinnati rebuild mine at 40k miles, and it's been bulletproof ever since. I don't know what they used, but it sure works.

Why would you take the fan shroud out of the way? NAPA makes an awesome bar that will go down and put the tensioner in it's place so you don't have to get down there with an 18" breaker or something stupid.

Although I admit that I took a Sawzall to my fan shroud when I did the water pump, it'll pull out from the top now with the removal of about 4 bolts, haha....

Is this because the clutch is going bad? Or the alternator as the whole unit going bad? Mine has been doing this for quite a while now and I have been puzzled why it is doing it.

When my alternator pulley failed at around 50K, there were no apparent electrical symptoms, just squeaking belt and jumpy tensioner. I'd say if you're getting electrical issues, the alternator itself could use replacement.

When my first clutch pulley was failing, I had the same flickering and dimming lights, along with a faint chirping sound and rust colored dust coming from the pulley.
I didn't have a jumpy belt tensioner, yet.
I can't get to the front two alternator bolts very well without removing the shroud, and I can't fit the pulley removal tool in there either with the shroud in place.
I just remembered, my red top Optima battery was crapping out around that time, also.
It may have been a little of both, weak battery and alternator pulley failing.
Anyhow, after almost three years of trouble free driving, the flickering lights are back.
