So I was leaving work this morning and about a minute into my drive I slowed to make a turn out of the parking lot and my 06 CRD Liberty decides to idle really rough and wont accelerate, then it dies. I restart twice with the key going from RUN to START, idles rough and dies both times. Then I restart with the key going from OFF to START and it starts right up like nothing ever happened. Have put 60 miles on it since and it runs like a champ. Vehicle has 91k on it and has never exhibited any problems and all the critical maintenance is current. Im a former mechanic turned electrical engineer so cars are nothing new to me. Only thing I can conclude is possibly a glitch in the computer, loose connection somewhere, or a sensor maybe on its way out. Has anyone else experienced such a thing?

Fuel filter plugging or air in the fuel.

Fuel filter has about 8k on it, but I guess I could have got some bad fuel. I guess a new fuel filter and in tank lift pump should do the trick. Theres no evidence of the typical fuel filter head issues. This thought did pass my mind briefly till it restarted fine, guess it was very minor. Thanks for the help geordi.

No worries, just so you know: I'm not 100 percent that it is the fuel filter, but that kind of random behavior without any codes has usually been fuel related. That happened on my CRD, as well as both of my TDIs. The most recent example of this is my current TDI that stumbled and had very little high-demand power abilities... Until I changed the filter.

Hope it fixes your glitch too.

Fuel filter is a cheap replacement that couldnt hurt. Its been running fine since its issue, so who knows. Possible it had a tiny pocket of air and it passed.
